He's the 3rd or 4th best QB of the entire 2000s and literally the only remaining one that could be signed long term

Yeah sorrys that's called an anomaly. Not only that it doesn't disprove anything since he would have 5x more teams fighting over him in February than now (that was the original point)
You misunderstand, he's not an anomaly when it comes to QBs who could be released right now and would start in the fall.

And if you would like to know where i believe here you go:

NE Patriots --- Belichek has talked about Dak before and i believe he would move right in if available
Chicago Bears - Trubisky on the way out no doubt in my mind
Jacksonville - YUP
Dolphins - i would say dak would start even though they drafted Tua - just to give tua sometime
Browns - he is better then current QB
Steelers - Ben is just about gone i truly believe he could take that spot and steelers would make that move if given the chance at this time
Commanders - Dont need to say anything more there
Raiders - Gruden
Titans - Good fit there
Panthers -
Lions - Very Possible they would replace stafford if given the chance to get younger
Chargers -

I would say these right off the top of my head !

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm very VERY good point. I haave to admit.
Bears and lions maybe... ok..ill give you that

Sure he would. How many teams do you think would be thinking "is he better than what we've got"? It would depend on the cap and what they have committed to the present #1.

Now, would they be willing to pay him 35M per and give up 2 1sts to get him, that is doubtful but if he's on the market, some team would sign him up as to compete for the job, at worst case.

Ya know, if posters would stop dogging him for not being elite like Mahomes, Rodgers or Brees and appreciate him as a good QB and leader that can move the offense and forget the damned contract.

If they didn't disclose what players make and get posters involved as capologists, the large majority of the Dakaters would back off. Forget the money and just focus on the job the player does. He wasn't the reason this was a .500 team last season.

Based on your scenario, these are the teams Dak could start for if he were released and signed by another team before Training Camp:
1. The Commanders (clearly better than Haskins at this point)
2. The Bears (though I'm not certain he could beat out Foles)
3. The Dolphins (until Tua is ready)
4. The Steelers (if Big Ben isn't ready)
5. The Bengals (if Cincy isn't ready to start Burrow)
6. The Jaguars (uh, yeah, he's better than Cashew, Minshew)
7. The Titans (who couldn't do what Tanehill has done?)
8. The Broncos (I'm not sold on Lockett just yet)
9. The Chargers (Tyrod Taylor is a glorified Dak Prescott. Or is it Dak is a glorified Tyrod?)

I have to agree that THAT is my beef with him.
He is demanding for wayyyyy to much when he is not worth it.

Why cant he settle and let a better team be build around him?

Problem is most teams are cap starved right now. The only non rookie deal QBs i can think of that teams would go on a cut spree to lock up long term would be Wilson and Rodgers.

Dak could easily start in the Fall for another team, he would just have to be a more short term/lower cap deal

I have to agree that THAT is my beef with him.

Timing and market value dictate that. If Dak wasn't franchised tagged i'd not be suprised to see someone pay 30 million a year in March. Not saying he is or isn't worth that but QB market is a hot ticket for young talent with experience

You dont think he could start either one of these places right now ? Commanders are not sold on current Qb they would jump to swipe Dak while hurting the boys - I am not taking money or contracts into consideration OP said he could not start for any team so on that basis i disagree - Giving Tua time and letting him 100 % heal would be good for him. No

My friends that are Bears fans would literally pick Trubisky up on their shoulders and carry him south to Texas.

Agree! One of my close friends from my time in Chicago laments to me weekly about Trubisky. The hopelessness is palpable

Yes he would but if I think he would come down in regard to price once his offers come in. Dak is good but not great QB at this point. But I believe coaching could do wonders. If the Cowboys wanted to move.on from him they would've by now. We just witness one of the best QB FA class in the history of the NFL. But at the same time all those QBs had some type of warts. Best course of action is to let Dak offer cool off. Bring him back down to earth then sign him at the going rate 33-36M. If he want 4 years then fine, but I'll definitely be drafting QBs.

In an absolutely impossible scenario, but I CAN DREAM can I? If Dak gets released will be be the absolute starter in any other team?

What are your thoughts?
Sadly, I think that Dak is a very good BACKUP.
Dak was 2 yards short of breaking the Cowboy all-time record for passing yards in a season.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

In a couple years, Dak could be a backup. Right now? Yes, Dak would be a starter on other teams.

No, that's not really what he's talking about (or at least what I'm talking about). I'm not saying there are 32 QBs definitely better than Dak. I'm saying there may not be enough available QB "situations" right now.

Haskins and Tua are both first round picks on cost controlled deals. These guys don't get drafted to sit, they're going to play so you can find out what you have.

I guess I did not take into account what kind of deal Dak would sign. If Dak were willing to sign a 1 year 3 million dollar deal, then that may change the equation for some teams (like the Jaguars).

He might start for a few, but Not For Long with the "I'm the greatest mentality" he's displaying. Its Dallas or Doom!

Some teams you think would, won't. The Jags stood fast with Gardiner Minshew; the Titans have Ryan Tannenhill. Rivers is a Colt and Tom is a Buccaneer. Even 16 year veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick has a better hold on a starting position than Qak at this point.

Some of those teams would have put in the call if they thought Qak would make them contenders.

I feel like we are winding down in the “how to structure a Dak “ question thread. I’m waiting for “You’re on an deserted island and can only have Dak throwing you coconuts...would he be able to hit you in the hands? Would you trust him?”
