Can I put my pet cat Jourdan Lewis cause this draft all but says he’s being phased out again
I thought I read somewhere that the Cowboys like him because, though short, he has that "dawg" in him. I wouldn't be surprised if JL has at least five picks this year. I think in Nolan's defense, he's going to shine and his ball-hawking abilities will be on display.

Some who never made it:
Macy Brooks
Willie Blade
Some LB who hurt his neck - forgot his name

Some who did:
Romo
Dak

What is the definition of pet cat? UFA? Late draft pick like 4th or later?
Devonte Holloman? I wish he didn’t get hurt

And this is the problem w/ Jerry. He tends to see all problems the same. If one works out one way, then they all will. However, we're dealing w/ human beings here, so it doesn't work that way. Not even close.
I'm not sure if he was off on Rush though. Rush had a strong preseason, and there was at least a chance someone might claim him if they tried to get him on the practice squad.

Good call. He was a fan favorite … until he asked for McNabb's (or was it Vick's) jersey after a game, and then it was all down-hill after that.
That incident was way overblown. All the players make nice after games, even joining together to pray or to make dinner plans or whatever. Seems Choice had a nephew or something that was a big McNabb fan. I never saw the problem.

Shocked nobody has mentioned Victor Butler.
Did not see the field often but when he did get a few snaps he seemed to do a good job.
Can't remember if he had trouble staying healthy or they just let him walk.

I thought so too.

Alex Tanney: the greatest quarterback who never was.

Drew Henson: I read reams of posts from online quarterback experts about his greatness

My girlfriend back in 2004 watched some preseason games with me when the Cowboys had Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson and Tony Romo.

She was adamant that Romo had "it" and would be the next Cowboys QB.

At that time most fans were projecting Drew Henson as the next great Cowboys QB...

I was willing to give Gathers a chance, but year 2 he was history for me, though he was never a pet cat.

I never liked Darius Jackson, and said he was a PS at best right away. But many had him in the HOF starting over Zeke.
Then they jumped on the Bo Scarborough HOF bus, which I never did either. But he showed better flashed than Jackson.

I liked Noah Brown coming out of college. Was very happy when they drafted him. But I think this may be it for him. Unless they want him as a pure blocking WR and are content with his 10 catches.

Kwasi Owusu Ansah...had a lot of tools.

Robert Lavette was another back in the day. Always seemed to show up big in the preseason. Just never could crack into the lineup.

Jimmy Smith....he actually had a great career--with the Jags.

Chad Hennings - I was imagining getting a steal because of his military commitment. Kind of a Staubach situation on defense. He did end up being a good player, but not the kind of player I was hoping for.

Matt Moore - I thought he looked great in preseason, and although I didn't think of him as the level of a quality starter, I thought he could have made a strong backup for years. I think history proved I was right, but the Cowboys tried to sneak him onto the practice squad and lost him.

Ebeneezer Ekuban - After flops with Shante Carver and Kavika Pittman, I thought Ekuban might actually be a player. Ekuban was better than those two, but still never lived up to what I hoped he could.

What was wrong with Chad Hennings. He was a quality player.

If Ekuban had been a 3rd round pick, fans would have liked him, but he never lived up to 1st round pick status.

Devin smith...really? That was a product of terrible coaching. His story isn't done yet.

HE wasn't a "pet" at all. Real football skills and a very logical attempt at rejuvenation. Plus you HAVE to keep some... "scrubs" about.

A "pet" is usually one who has gained undeserved favor. Rico? Yes. Devin smith? No.

I was so convinced that Steve Pelluer was the next great Cowboys QB, that I wanted Them to draft the hugely overhyped Tony Mandarich instead of Troy.
Luckily, this was pre-internet and none of My Friends cared about American Football, so My shame was never made public.

Hah...good one! The good old days when we just WATCHED football for the fun of it. Nobody knew we were successful coaches and GM's. Or failed ones.
