Opinion: Dak will not take a offer less than Deshuan Watson’s value

Oh, gawd, here we go with the garbage-time statistics, which mean nothing.

So, why was Dak behind the Packers, 31-3?

Why did he fail to score a touchdown in three separate games last year?

Why did he get badly outplayed by Trubisky, Darnold, Allen?

Why did he fail so miserably in the most important game of the year in Philly?

Dak can't carry the team. Good defenses annihilate him with ease. They don't respect his game.

He's just a guy. Opposing coordinators scheme to put the ball in his hands, which is the easiest way to beat Dallas. He's the weak link on the offense.

Dalton did far more with much less. Made the playoffs his first five years, including 10 or more wins in four of them. And that's with one of the cheapest, worst franchises in all of sports.

Dalton could move this team with this talent just as well as Dak. I promise you.

So why spend $150 million on a bus driver?

Despite managing to be down 31-3 against a bad Packers offense they STILL were in a position to win that game BECAUSE of Dak. Dalton could not have done that. Dalton does not have the accuracy, he does not have the decision, he does not have the mobility (he also did not have a team that lead the league in drops but that is why the Cowboys drafted a new WR).

They literally have found a way to factor in game situations into the rating system and Dak still outclasses Dalton. There is NO WAY to spin the numbers to make Dalton even in the same league as Dak.
They weren't in a position to win crap. That game was over.

And Dak is not mobile anymore. He looks slow now

I think written took him in a 40-yard race, and everybody beats him in throwing competitions.

I can't believe I'm responding to your cheese post but here goes short and sweet.

Both WATSON and MAHOMES will have a new contract before Dak!

P.S. Tell your buddy Dak he will be lucky to get the TAG cash this year....

How come you’re such a baby and never take on the bet loser.

Going back to the Andrew Luck draft and looking forward you get about 1/3 that are not busts in the first. Second and 3rd have a LOT of busts so I know its higher (logically) but I did not break those down.

As for the reason QBs get paid more its that they are more important than other positions but they are not going to win a Super Bowl on their own. There are about 13-18 QBs in the NFL at any given time that are Super Bowl level QBs and if you do not have one you are basically hoping for a miracle. However, having one does not win you a Super Bowl. The problem though is that, as you need one to win, everyone wants them and will pay for them so whenever a top 7-13 QB is up for contract they will get that contract because otherwise you are the Texans of 10 years ago, who should have been contenders because they had EVERYTHING else but just lacked a QB.

Look at the more recent draft classes.

As to the reason QBs get paid more, the entire statement comes across as a contradiction IMO. They are more important then other positions but are not going to win a Super Bowl? They, in fact, are going to win it or lose it ultimately.

40 million........ thats ridiculous. There isn't a hairs difference between Dak and Andy Dalton. If we put Dalton behind this OL surrounded by all the talent we have at the skill positions on offense, he'll be just as good if not better. Or heck, sign Cam Newton for 10 million and let him compete with Dalton.

Um okay most recent: we have last year which is looking like it will be 1 out of 3 with the only success being the number 1 pick (the fact that people were ALREADY wondering if they were replacing the QB in Washington after a few games should say all that need be said). Then we have 1 out of 5, then 2 out of 3, then 2 out of 3 (I am giving Goff the benefit of the doubt despite only 1 good year), 0 for 2, 0 for 3, and I assume we can stop now.

I don't recall Dak saying he was asking for $40 million/year, do you?

I think the difference between Dak and Dalton is a little greater than you do, but aside from that, Dak is 6 years younger, and therefore more able to solidify the position for years to come, and that sets him apart as well.

Yeah, solidify the position in mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Cam Newton has a better chance of leading this team to a super bowl next year.

Dak will not take a low ball offer from Jerry until Deshuan Watson gets a deal.

Dak is more accomplished in all categories for QB than entitled choking *** Watson.

Dak news floor is 40 million a year.

Watson's better. People need to stop making stats be a bottom line all the time. That said he isnt much better but yeah Watson is better

Wow. You really go from one extreme to the other right? I didn't say "Most Recent". I said more recent but I can see what you are doing here and where this is going.

Lets just get back to the facts. Fact, we've only ever had one franchise QB that was a first round pick. We've had 4 that were drafted in the later rounds or not drafted at all. I mean, if your premise of QB purgatory is accurate, how do you account for that?

That's an opinion, and one the Cowboys obviously don't share, and my guess is most of the NFL doesn't either. Newton hasn't had a top season since 2015 at this point, and that was really one of only a couple of seasons in his career that could be called a top season. His career passer rating is 11 points below Dak's.

That said, I don't consider Dak elite, but people are deluding themselves if they think "elite" is readily available, and all a team has to do is let go of their current QB and go get that elite guy. I believe there are only about 5 elite guys, which is rare enough in itself, but when you consider 2-3 of those guys entered the league 15-20 years ago, that further indicates just how hard it is to get an elite guy.

Cam Newton is a worse passer and mental midget.

I’d roll with Dak.
