Who is the one whining about player greed? That's on you, bro.

I'm team pay Dak.

Don’t feel guilty or wrong or flawed or misinformed just because I think these guys get paid too much money to play ball. I also don’t give one iota of crap about all this market value BS, and my opinion won’t be changed.

That said, owners are certainly entitled to pay what they want, as long as it doesn’t ****** progress building a consistent contender within the confines of the salary cap.

I like Dak, and want him to succeed, but the team comes first!

Who gives a ****, it's not my money. And all the money Jerry's saved over 25 years has done what?

Well, one thing it's done is create a loaded Offense, no question. This team arguably has a Top 3 OL, Top 3 RB group and a Top 3 WR corps. Personnel Wise, everything is there to literally set NFL records including the Offensive focused HC.

I mean, does anybody here think that Jerry wouldn't do the right thing with Dak if he brought a championship to Dallas? Any QB in the league should be able to have success in this Offense. A good QB (not even great) should be able to set records. Seriously, the talent is that good this year, IMO.

Dak intends to play on the franchise tag and wait for the market.

That would be GREAT for Dallas.

How is that great? They would have no QB and therefore no chance at winning, but still too much talent to get a top 5 pick and get a new QB. Its the purgatory of almost teams.

Play the year out with Dak on franchise tag, if we don't make the play offs led by Dak this year, then we can all safely agree on certain facts that can't be argued and that simple fact is that with Dak as the QB of the Dallas Cowboys have made the play offs only 2 out 5 years with him as a starter, I can then safely say that we do need to look for another QB that can lead this talented team, 2/5 is not acceptable. Saying all that, I do think he will have another very good year and Dak will then make his money, is it too much? The market bears the market price. But I don't think the franchise tag is a bad thing

Dak is a $15-20 million QB. I'm ok with overpaying for one season without the albatross of a massive contract.

Let somebody else make that horrible mistake.

If we are going to say that its on a single player than why notn dump Martin or Collins or Tyron Smith, or Elliot or DLaw etc etc etc. Everything you said about Dak is true for all of them so why not dump all of them to.

Wins are not a QB stat. QBs are needed to win, and if you do not have one you will almost assuredly not win, but on their own they do not win. This is why wins are a TEAM stat. The problem with the team is that is that it has been very feast or famine in terms of drafting players.

How would you propose finding a new QB? As a note remember drafting has at best a 1/3 chance of working (in the first round) and lower if you get out of the top 10.

Let's pay Dak 40 million a year for 4 years all guaranteed and continue to lose to teams with winning records!
Ya baby sounds like a plan why risk drafting one as all teams do and sooner or later to find their franchise QB.

I don't understand this line of thought. I mean, I get the idea that it's a team game and everybody has to execute in order to win but if that's the case, then why do we pay QBs so much more money to play the position? Why is so much time, effort, resource and just plain old hard cash get put towards the QB position? Why don't all players at all position just get paid the same?

One or the other is true but I'll tell you know, the league doesn't look at things in the same way. It's pretty clear that they do believe that QB makes a difference, based on how much they invest in the position.

I'm not 100% certain of this but I believe that those numbers have changed in the recent past. More and more lower rounds are seeing success in the draft. But it's still a valid point you make.

Going back to the Andrew Luck draft and looking forward you get about 1/3 that are not busts in the first. Second and 3rd have a LOT of busts so I know its higher (logically) but I did not break those down.

As for the reason QBs get paid more its that they are more important than other positions but they are not going to win a Super Bowl on their own. There are about 13-18 QBs in the NFL at any given time that are Super Bowl level QBs and if you do not have one you are basically hoping for a miracle. However, having one does not win you a Super Bowl. The problem though is that, as you need one to win, everyone wants them and will pay for them so whenever a top 7-13 QB is up for contract they will get that contract because otherwise you are the Texans of 10 years ago, who should have been contenders because they had EVERYTHING else but just lacked a QB.

Dak is basically a younger version of Andy Dalton. This isn't like trying to replace Drew Brees or Patrick Mahomes. Dak is a bus driver with the best offensive personnel ever inherited in the history of the NFL.

Except his numbers last year would be better than anything Dalton has had for his career. Even Dak's worst years are better than some of Dalton's best. Yards, accuracy, TDs, etc etc, Dak has been significantly better at all of them and that is not factoring in Dak's added mobility. It is impossible to make an argument that Dak is not a top 7-13 QB without pretending every metric is somehow rigged in his favor.

Yes it is a team concept however like Dak's salary demands are far greater than any other player on the team and it's the way it is, Quarterbacks get more money, more press exposure and when a team loses, his name is always mentioned so it's on the QB shoulders, it's not really fair as Dak can play real well and still come out a loser but again, 2/5 years is not acceptable for any Qb. We have the talent on this team to be considered one of the elite teams according to most of the GM'S and front office people from all accounts I have read, so if the Boys don't get to the play offs AND PLAY WELL in the play offs , it's time for another guy.

I'm ok with franchise tag and see what we have and go that route and hope that it was coaching that was keeping this team from being elite the last 10 years

btw- I really think that 2007, 2014 were the only two years we had a realistic shot at the Super Bowl, I think we are a player or two away on defense to be really a Super Bowl team, I haven't felt this way since 1992 camp

Buying into a false media narrative that somehow the QB should receive credit for wins and losses does not make it so. It was as silly as when they try to create a matchup out of QB A versus QB B and they know they never actually play against each other so they spin the match up as "How will he handle sitting on the sidelines watching QB A work when he knows he has to follow it up?" Its complete nonsense.

QBs are more influential in wins and losses than other positions, and you do need one to win which is why they get paid more, but they do not win on their own and they get too much media credit and too much media blame for the outcome. If being the best QB in the NFL won you title then Peyton Manning would have a half dozen, instead of playoff losses where the offense never punted the ball, and Aaron Rodgers would have 4-5 of his own, but the fact of the matter is you need to build a team around the QB on both offense and defense.

Oh, gawd, here we go with the garbage-time statistics, which mean nothing.

So, why was Dak behind the Packers, 31-3?

Why did he fail to score a touchdown in three separate games last year?

Why did he get badly outplayed by Trubisky, Darnold, Allen?

Why did he fail so miserably in the most important game of the year in Philly?

Dak can't carry the team. Good defenses annihilate him with ease. They don't respect his game.

He's just a guy. Opposing coordinators scheme to put the ball in his hands, which is the easiest way to beat Dallas. He's the weak link on the offense.

Dalton did far more with much less. Made the playoffs his first five years, including 10 or more wins in four of them. And that's with one of the cheapest, worst franchises in all of sports.

Dalton could move this team with this talent just as well as Dak. I promise you.

So why spend $150 million on a bus driver?

Despite managing to be down 31-3 against a bad Packers offense they STILL were in a position to win that game BECAUSE of Dak. Dalton could not have done that. Dalton does not have the accuracy, he does not have the decision, he does not have the mobility (he also did not have a team that lead the league in drops but that is why the Cowboys drafted a new WR).

They literally have found a way to factor in game situations into the rating system and Dak still outclasses Dalton. There is NO WAY to spin the numbers to make Dalton even in the same league as Dak.
