Can you imagine the pitchforks around here in 5 years!

Will be worse than the hatred for Garrett.

Wilson's was four years, $140, $107 guaranteed. Sounds like exactly what Dak is asking for.

Wilson was beyond his rookie deal and a SB champion. Dak is asking for a structure a season, accomplished vet got when in fact, his peers in Goff and Wentz essentially set the contract parameters just 12 months ago.

No, it wasn't. As has been explain on this board, over and over and over and over, Wilson's deal was an extension. So in terms of cap, it wasn't 4 years. But, as I've said in this thread, doesn't matter how much you try and explain this, people don't want to acknowledge that.

Like I've said, I haven't seen CAA ask or settle for anything that doesn't exceed existing. I don't know why anybody would believe they would start now.

It's the same money to the player over the same time period. Yes, how the team can manage the cap differs, but that's not the player's fault and it doesn't mean they're asking for more money than Wilson got. Dallas chose not to extend Dak earlier.

PAPPY, pampered? He's played on a 4th rounders salary and earned any bonuses he's received.

Don't want to pay him, as I assumed as I saw that headline, fine but the guy hasn't been pampered. He's playing it tough at the table which is his prerogative.

Yes Pampered!
#1 HB in the league (Zeke)
#1 Offline in the league
# 1 Coop (there goes our 1st rounder)
QB Coaches GALORE.

And every year it gets worse......

He has been pampered enough we have suffered enough!!!!
Next, please!

No, it's not. But that's kinda what I mean. It's not the same years, it's not the same money and it's not the teams fault that Dak didn't sign earlier. None of that is true but whatever. To be honest, I'm tired of trying to explain it all. If you want to see Dak sign for this kind of deal, cool.

I hope you feel the same way when it's all said and done.

It's the same money but it's not the same time period. You are being disingenuous when you say Wilson signed a 4 year deal as if Dak should get a 4 year deal.

Wilson signed a 4 year extension giving him a 5 year deal. Wentz and Goff didn't sign 4 year contracts. They signed 4 year extensions that put them under a 6 year contract.

It can certainly be hard to explain things that aren't true.

They signed contracts that put them under team control for 4 extra years in exchange for a certain amount of money above and beyond what they were already contracted to receive. Yes, it's different from the team's cap-management standpoint. No, it's not different for the player: Dak wants a contract that puts him under team control for 4 extra years in exchange for a certain amount of money beyond what he is already contracted to receive (which in Dak's case is $0).

cannot trust Fish. BUT, I do think a deal IS getting very near. What I don't trust is the 45 mil number he threw out.Sounds like click bait to me more than anything.

Yeah I don't think he'd see 45 million that 5th year regardless. If he sucks they'd cut him. If he lives up to it they'd re-sign him before it came into play.

And that's why this is a bad deal. You say resign him like it would be that easy but what that effectively does is put the team at the mercy of CAA and France. That's what they want. If you extend him, that's when the team has zero leverage and Dak and CAA have all of it. The alternative is to simply allow him to leave via FA and get nothing back for him, while seeing the entire cap number hit the 5th year. That's a really bad deal and a bad place to be if you are the Cowboys and don't forget, we've already read reports that CAA wants part of a 5th year deal to be a no Franchise option for the team.
