In the end, all lose except for the lawyer (France) who gets paid and shows he can get the biggest payday for his client.
Jones lose because they aren't really any closer to the Superbowl and are out more money now while not allowing them to get closer by signing others.
Dak loses because although he got paid, his fandom and the business guys who wanted him, don't want to deal with his lawyer either.
The fans lose because they have the 6-10 best QB getting paid like he is top 5 and not getting them any closer to winning the Superbowl, but still needing to pay a little more for tickets, drinks, parking, merchandise etc because of the contract.
The team loses because they don't have the cap #'s to sign the guys they really need now.

Seems like normal around Cowboy country here lately........a whole lot of losing.

Wonder if they would ever think of just doing contracts @ a % of cap, and add bonuses based upon actual play...........................oops, that would cut out the lawyers who get paid based upon the contract.

I actually had a discussion with my Son about this a couple of weeks ago. He loves that idea and basically proposed the same. I like the idea as well but never saw it happening. But I would like to see that type of situation, if just to cut out all of the BS.

I think France's issue is that he arrogantly is trying to get a team to overpay for his guy.

France represents Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox, and DeAndre Hopkins and all three of those guys got big pay days with no pushback. Because they're elite.

I like Dak, but he isn't elite, so there is some discussion. That all being said, the Jones boys will eventually cave to their demands and strangle our cap space for years to come. It's what they do.
France's main issue is getting more clients.

He has to land this deal or he will be looked on as not being good enough for new clients.

This sort of high dollar work is mostly obtained by word of mouth or by example.

Dak is using France..

France is using Dak.

Perfect match.

Better than a marriage with a pre-nup.

Wake up fellas..this is the real world here.

Neither sides really cares to wrap this up asap.

IIRC the Cowboys slapped Dak with the tag and went on the boat.

IMO it's a waiting game till the week of 7/15. Until then, each side is probably content unless the other one calls them

Jones’s will eventually cave to all of their demands because at the end of the day Dak is great for their business and will keep us relevant in the media.

Jerry loves to pretend he has the upper hand until he doesn't. lol Really playing hardball. These negotiations are a sham.

My one and only Dak contract thread, since we don't have enough here. When will OTAs start!!!

Maybe the FO is just sick of Todd France. They know if they sign Dak to a shorter contract they will have to deal with this guy again soon. Somewhere in the back of my mind I think there were a few players in the past that were either FA, or players we didn't resign because the FO did not get along with the agent and just didn't want to work with them.

Could this be the case here?
Do you think Dak is the only Cowboy represented by Todd France?

By many I think you mean YOU.

Dalton is a backup. He was signed as a backup. He wasn't signed to compete with Dak.

There is zero chance Dalton ever starts if Dak is healthy.

You might want to start reading this site's posts.
Over 50% polled don't want Dak to receive a new contract and almost 9% want Dalton to start over Dak.

So it's not just me bud.
Attacking me at every opportunity you get won't solve the Dak dilemma in our Cowboy nation!
You're a Dak fan we get it but as a Mod the debate scale is pretty much in your favor.
Now you do what you gotta do there man....

Getting Prescott to the highest paid at his position, albeit temporarily, will be a bigger feather in his cap and be more of an attention getter for other athletes.

They're not tired of dealing with France, it's not like they talk every day. He's doing exactly what any good agent would do with all of the leverage and time on his side. The Cowboys are blinkers, every agent in the business knows that. He's holding his ground because he knows they don't have much to stand on. This is exactly where they didn't want to be, going back to last season, and exactly where CAA wanted them. France isn't negotiating any longer, he's just waiting for them to crater.
Coach, like you, I believe most agents see and hear Jerry Jones’ “tough talk” and public “negotiating“ and simply put their feet on the desk, smile, and wait for the inevitable “Jones cave”.

I am usually amused at the anger expressed on these boards at Dak and his agent for “asking too much” or blaming them for dragging this out. Jerry has given us a template of how he operates in these situations and the only thing that would surprise me would be Jerry not caving. Compared to most NFL execs who negotiate, he’s got to be one of, if not the biggest pushovers in sports. I think Jerry waits to settle these things at the absolute last minute by his own choosing because he thinks it makes him look like he “held the line”.

I’ve almost always sided with the players when it came to money because they have every right to get the most they can in the very short career they will have. For every fan screaming we are overpaying Dak, in 3 years, Dak probably won’t be one of the 5 highest paid QBs in the league. It’s just the way the NFL QB market works. QBs get paid big time, whether they have “won big” or not.

I have more dislike for Rosenhaus. I wouldn't even know France if I passed him on the street.

I used to think the same thing about Rosenhaus, but after reading Gronk's book, I have a new found respect for him.
