Nothing is definite, especially when it comes to being ranked in the top five. There are easily a handful of teams or more, already named, that will likely challenge that notion. If that's not enough, the Cowboys will be obliged to get their players fully oriented and familiar with a new system and new coaches. It's a serious handicap anytime a team takes on a new staff with a new system and a boatload of new players. The questions abound.
Unfortunately, rating any team at this time of the year is very much a premature exercise in futility, due to the unknown factors that always arise. Nobody knows what might develop in early June. We all hope for what's best for our team but wins simply aren't based upon hope. The number of new Cowboys players to be indoctrinated this year is an extreme challenge in itself for any team to overcome. Being in the top 5 is even tougher. I'm inclined to believe we'd be more than fortunate to reach that goal with all the lingering questions that beg to be answered. Top five? Sorry, I want it but I doubt it.
