If we are to do the impossible and pit teams from different eras against one another, then surely we must do the reasonable and allow that 70's teams the benefit of better nutrition and weight training. " we can make them bigger, stronger, faster"... Oscar Goldman. Making the matchup between "Hat vs Hair Gel" even closer. I love time travel:flagwave:

I think cornerback play
Yeah. That 94 team, the second Super Bowl, to me is the greatest football team of all time. Not only would they beat any of Landry’s teams but any other team in the history of the NFL.

If it weren't for Emmitt holdout and Letts Thanksgiving blunder, that 1993 Cowboys team would arguably have finished with a 15-1 record.

I’d always thought Jimmy had the greatest Cowboy team ever. And if he’d stayed won 4 or more.

But if we hadn’t gone up against two of the greatest teams in NFL history in the Packers and Steelers Landry would have won 6 Super Bowls and the Lombardi would be called the Landry.

It would always be tough to bet against Staubach. He’d give Jimmy’s defense all he wanted and DoomsdayI would be formidable against Tripletts.

1977, the only time in Cowboy history that they had the #1 offense and the #1 defense, undefeated in Sept, Oct, and Dec. best Cowboy winning percentage for a season.Winner of Super Bowl 12

Against the 1992 Cowboys #4 offense, #1 defense.Super Bowl 27

The 77 team defensive line would be the difference. as good as the 92 defense was, the 77 defense held the SB opponent QB to a "0" passer rating.

What did both defenses have in common? Their SB opponent starting QB's both sat the bench in the 2nd half.

What did both offenses have in common? HOF QB's, HOF RB's and #88.

I never compare teams from different eras... with all things taken at face value. the Jimmy Johnson’s teams would win. Stronger, faster bigger and more advanced training, diet etc.. it wouldn’t even be a contest.

If you gave those 70s teams the same training, diet etc then that’s a different ball game.

Great question. Great, great question.

While Landry’s teams were awesome I think the 92-96 Cowboys May have been the best team in history. Seriously nobody could touch them. They were talented and ultra physical. They won a SB with Barry Switzer which is basically winning without a HC.

It depends on which rules are enforced. If we're talking about playing by early 70s rules, I'll take Landry's team. If we're talking 90s rules, Johnson's team has the advantage.

The 1977 Cowboys would drill the 1992 team.
By drill, I mean they would beat them by 7 points.
Dorsett gave them the edge, and that defense was very good.
And Staubach was in his prime.
Landry would have given Dave Wandstedt and Jimmy fits with his offense.
I don’t think people ever seen. Landry at its best. They can’t recall. Yes the 90s were great but I’ll take the 70s

The Johnson team because that 92/93 team is in the running for GOAT. Depth wise, it was.
Do you think they would’ve beat the Steelers. In the 70s. Smith doesn’t drop the football in the Endzone best team ever.

Do you think Jimmy Johnson’s team could’ve been teams in the 70s to even make it to the playoffs. I’m not sure they could beat San Francisco back then, never mind the Steelers. Smith doesn’t drop the ball in the Endzone we’re talking about the best era ever Landry’s era

Having been around for both I see Them very close But I think The Jimmy Oline would have the difference.
I also saw both teams play and agree with your take.

Each of those teams, in their prime, had great coaching, outstanding QBs and plenty of play-makers on both sides of the ball.

However, and with all due respect to the Lombardi Packers, Jimmy’s O-line mighta been the best of all time.
