50 other players were taking notes on the Zeke negotiation and what they wrote down was that Jerry caves when under pressure. That probably directly lead to this situation.

If the Cowboys just give everyone what they want, players will ask for more and more until the team can barely put a team on the field due to cap constraints.

I think Jerry caved for two reasons: 1) He thought Zeke was pivotal and this was the year to prove everyone wrong and show Garrett could lead them to a championship. 2) He's getting much older and feels mortality and knows each year they have to make a run for it because it could be his last and he craves another championship. Not having Zeke would have hurt those chances (in his mind).

So for Garrett and for himself.

Just curious, for the “Don’t pay Dak” crowd what’s your solution for QB. This year and for the immediate short term. Play Dak on tag? Dalton? Trade? If so who?

So far picking through the troll ideas I haven't heard ONE idea that even remotely makes sense.

It will never happen, but IF Dak refused to play on the franchise tag and held out like Bell, then you trade him next offseason or the moment you get proper value. Otherwise I make him rot until we do.

Seems like it's Dalton, or tank the season.

The biggest difference between QB and most other positions is teams rarely draft many QB's. The only positions drafted less than QB are kickers and long snappers. Teams are too dang scared of hurting the fragile QB ego to continue drafting guys they think who can play. My solution is to do just that. I would prefer we take one in the 1st round so we get the 5 years but i'd take a chance on some running type QB's with decent arm talent similar to Daks mold. If they bomb then you pick top 10 the next year and if you hit your fine. You just have to be willing to draft the replacement about 2 years early and continue to pour resources into a very good OL, wr, rb, group that we have built. Not against paying an elite QB though, if he is truely elite (Mahomes is about the only one worth 40/year currently). Put the extra savings into defense cause you are going to need it to be dominant to win games.

This team is primed as a contender window for the next 4 years. Its literally taken us 25 years to get here. And these chumps want to start over? LOL

Dak is about to enter his prime coming off his best season as a pro.

Nothing but troll, laughable nonsense.

And to top it off, our salary cap situation is good with relief coming in two years when Zeke and Cooper can be let go.

Is that "another" gamble Dak wants to make? Wally Pipp.

Wally Pipp gave way to a 22 year old Gehrig. He was 32 at the time.

Romo got Wally Pipped. The comparison doesn't work with an older player replacing a young guy.

Try for a better analogy next time.

No offense but this is pretty optimistic thinking. Not quire sure what makes us primed as a contender.

But what is market value? Tannehill took 29 mil and he outperformed every starting QB in 12 games he started.
didn't tannehill win a game where he threw 8 passes? Tannehill not even close to dak. Have you actually watched tannehill play or you just watch highlights or look at w-l records?

But Market is not defined. The offer in front of him is market at this point. Essentially, we are talking about hypotheticals at this point.
Of course the market is defined. Especially when your agent has data to prove he was better than 2 qbs that just signed 4 year extensions last off season. The deal in front of him is 5 years when every other qb recently has signed for a max of 4 years

I think everyone here should go into work and ask for a pay cut. And tell them you are being team friendly. Then go tell your family why you would do a job for less than market value.

I don't work in an industry that operates with a salary cap so why would I do that?

People do not have an issue and do not care about players earning a lot of money. However there's a salary cap to consider. We have already lost Byron Jones - an All Pro Corner due to the salary cap.

Talent backed by quality coaching and a good cap situation.

Most of core talent is young and locked up for 3-4 years. I think if Garrett was here, then it wouldn't matter. But this team has the talent and a good coach should have them contending over the next 4 years.

I did watch him for most of his starts because I rode him to the fantasy football playoffs. Came in 2nd and took home $500.
Tannehill was throwing 2 to 3 TDs for a lot of games. He looked solid. I think the 8 passes thrown was Jimmy G.
