No one "hated" Dak back in 2016

I have to disagree. Some on here didn't like Dak from the beginning and got ultra salty even Romo was "healthy" and sat on the bench as a backup
I was one who thought Romo should get his job back, but I was never "ultra salty". I thought he gave us a better chance in the playoffs.

But I rooted for Dak just as hard as I would have for Tony.

None of this makes me a hater, it was just my opinion, which in reality means nothing to anyone else but me. There's so many arguments over opinions on here that it's comical. That last line was not directed at you, just in general.

Here is a thought, how many people were talking poorly of Dak in 2016 ?????
How many " haters" were posting here?? ( haters = anyone who wants another qb or thinks dak isnt good enough,
or thinks he is good but not worth the money he is demanding.)
None I would guess, this all took the last 3 years to develop and then add in the whole longest contract debate ever, and dak wanting
to be top salary at point of signing, and yeah we have some people that are saying dont sign him.

It is NOT like people have been against dak since day 1.
Same thing for elliot back in 16, but this is years later and both have been meh for last 3 years.
They have good stats, but that has not translated to much season wise or in playoffs the last 3 years.

There are valid reasons for people to think dak is not the right guy, especially now that his pay will
go up what 35 times what he was making?

Again my point is this didnt happen overnight, and didnt really start until late into 2017.
Some slid back in 2018, but then after a 8-8 season and the last phil game , the whole
not liking dak started up in earnest, and then this contract thing has made it snowball.

oh hell yah they were. They were all over the place crying about romo.

for me it was never about the playoffs. We didn’t have a legitimate shot to win a sb anyway.

for me it was about moving on with the new guy and getting him the experience. Takes years to groom most qbs.

Nah, there were still some unsold on his performance. And some who felt Romo got screwed and blamed Dak
I think I'm the only one on here that's admitted to that.

I did blame Dak. Dumb, irrational, uncalled for? Yes, it was stupid on my part and I readily admit it. Romo, along with Woodson, and Randy White were my all time fav Cowboys so of course I wanted him on the field. But I understood the decision to go with Dak.

And I rooted for Dak just as hard as I did when Tony wasn't available. I'm a Cowboy fan first, but I can also admit when I do stupid things. And holding that against Dak was stupid.

That's good rational thinking. And as much as I don't like to admit it, the Cowboys did the right thing.

No one 'hates' him now. What most dislike is the outright greed without earning it.

Sure, Dak had a great season in 2016, but lets not forget why the season went well. Romo was supposed to be the starter with Dak as the 3rd backup. The rest of the NFL had plenty of film on Romo, but nothing on #3, who unexpectedly got tossed into the mix when #1 and #2 went down. If you remember, Dak started going downhill later in the season as the film on him expanded and the rest of the NFL started catching on to his tendencies.

Dak is not a bad QB, but he hasn't come anywhere close to earning top tier money like Mahomes. If it makes some people trolls or haters for feeling that way then so be it.

It’s a fallacy that Dak’s play went downhill later in the season. Pure fallacy.

But continue...

Nah, you just don’t get how new contracts for franchise qbs work.

Nobody likes it.

I was desperately hoping they'd ditch Garrett last year so we could see get a look at Dak under a decent head coach before having to made a long term decision. Last year Dak performed well enough early that I though he could make the throws needed, even with his dips in performance later in the season.

I want him to get paid and I'm going to have higher expectations of him afterwards. And I don't mean "8-8, but looks good in the stat book" expectations.

Dak beat winning teams and led fourth quarter comebacks in 2016, while being paid $1m

2019, not so much and is asking for $35m+ a year

And still, many didn’t like him because they felt like he should have sat a year under Romo. We’ll never know if they were right.

But your point is the right one. Fans who ignore the salary cap don’t understand the NFL, and that’s a shame. Anyone who legit argues for Dak at $40M per year has lost his mind.

No one hates Dak. That's a common misconception created by the jock sniffers to debate a strawman.

In reality all we want is a franchise QB that justifies paying him what he's worth.
Dak can become

Romo was fully healed and medically cleared to play.

Wrong. Risen and Floaty have hated him from day 1.

Your parameters to define the term Dak Hater is too narrow, which could be misconstrued.

Its been my consistent position that the decision to start Dak over Romo (without a competition) was just another blunder amongst many that Jerry has imposed upon the Cowboyb .

I believe 2016's success wad a direct result of the O-Line and Zeke. I was not in favor of drafting him so early but I figured that it want the worse pick. I wanted to see what would happen with the dominant combination of Zeke and the O-Line.

After all the amazing QB stats that were accumulating it was becoming a foregone conclusion that the NFL was a passing league. The nickel was becoming a base defense. 2016 was a direct result of Zeke. Dak played adequately but even today his weaknesses are apparent.

It was a no brainier to go back to Romo but our idiot brain trust again made the wrong football decision. Because of this decision Cowboy Nation was divided.

Cowboy Fans who were once again dumbfounded by the stupid decion of the Jones' would argue the benefits of starting Romo got into arguments with people who were Ecstatic about Dak and thinking about the Future.

In the end Garrett won Coach of the year with Dak. Garrett (the same guy that would call a play in and Romo would trash it and call the correct play) was out from under Tony's shadow. He was all in with Dak and . . . THE FUTURE WAS WIDE OPEN.

4 years later Garrett was finally exposed for the fraud he is and there are still promises of Dak will finally "Improve" this year.

There was never any competition for Dak and this year out of sheer luck the Cowboys added Dalton. The perfect measuring stick for Dak. Some say Dak is light years above Dalton, some say they are comparably equal . . . we shall see.

With all that being said, by your parameters I could be perceived as a Hater. Yet I don't hate him. When the Cowboys score I cheer. Dak is the QB of the Cowboys and that's why I own his Jersey. All I ever wanted was for the Cowboys to add competition to see if its the team or is it Dak.

Ironically its the Greed of Dak and the advice of his agent that has cause the Cowboys to finally acquire competition.

For all I know this will light a fire under him. Something I haven't seen in him since that Steelers game in 2016. He may become that QB so many believe he is and 35 million may not be enough. But chances are he comes in and practices the way he is infamous for and McCarthy comes away not impresses. Maybe Dalton looks good with all those QB luxuries running around

And imo theres nothing wrong with it. But iirc you weren't the poster I was thinking of.
