The Dak Prescott Excuse Thread

One less playoff win than Romo in half the time yet the excuses for Romo were gigantic. Maybe the real problem were the coaches. Dak finally has a real HC. The excuses stop now. Go Cowboys.

I disagree with your premise that only a small minority of fans that regard Prescott as an average QB. Perhaps I should qualify my statement in that he's regarded in the 11-20 bracket of QBs in the league by those fans. I suppose a "good" QB would be ranked 11-15 and an "average" QB would be ranked 16-20. He's somewhere between the two along with the likes of Jimmy G, Cousins and Carr. All of whom are solid game managing quarterbacks like Prescott.

People take such offense to those comparisons...that's Jimmy G who has a 21-5 W/L record with a QBR of 100.0, 67.5% passing completion and has reached a Superbowl as a starting QB, Cousins who had 56 TDs and 16 INTs with an average QBR of 104 over the past two seasons and Derek Carr a 3 x pro bowler with 143 TDs and 62 INTs in his career. It's so offensive to be put in the same bracket as those guys! Jesus wept.

Prescott isn't Rodgers, Lamar, Brees, Wilson, Mahomes, Brady etc and there's no shame in admitting the same.

All Cowboy fans matter and it's an insult to state otherwise. Whilst I completely disagree with some fans, I do not belittle them by claiming that they do not matter.

Their opinions don’t matter in the scheme of things. Their opinions hold no weight. These top rankings that fans do mean nothing. You have good quarterback play and you have bad quarterback play. If I was to sit here and say Prescott is the best quarterback in the NFL that too would mean nothing. At the end of the day Jerry and co. are the ones signing the contracts and their opinion of Dak is the only one that matters. So because you can rank Dak as the 15th best quarterback means nothing.

I'll bet we can come up with at least 20-25 that his supporters have used to explain away his mishaps. I'll Start with the 1st three and when we hit 20 i will put them all in a post at the end

1. Our O-line is not as good as it use to be, Dak never has anytime in the pocket!
2. he has had terrible coaching JG held him back
3. If Zeke wasn't suspended for 6 games in 2017......

Nobody despises Dak more than Cowboy fans.

It's actually quite interesting. Someone should write a Master's thesis on this phenomenon.

That's because no one else CARES about him either.

But you make a good question. Are there any NFL fans that tune into the Cowboys just to watch Dak? I dunno...

Those of us who support Dak don’t need excuses. His play and his stature amongst those NFL experts that know (players, coaches) says it all.

Dak doesnt have a defense.
His WRs are leading the league in drops.
Zeke is no good anymore.

These Dak supporters are clinging to that 2016 season like its a gold nugget. As time goes on though the laws of average eliminate that outlier.

I want the Aikman excuses why he is had zero flaws compared to Dak's thousands.

Aikman has earned exempt status by winning multiple SBs. Yes he had a ton of help but he made some big plays along the way like that pass to Alvin Harper to seal the game against the 49rs.
