well, normally I would agree.Bur JG is gone, and we know MM loves to use wr's and put them at RB and also take rb's that have speed and move them out to the flank. I think we will see him in space on bubble screens in certain packages. The last regime failed the kid and the team by not using him a lot more and taking advantage of his skills and speed. At Memphis he was used a lot at WR...AND KNOWING MM, he realizes this and has had time to dissect his game. Its foolish not to line him up all over.
RBs moving out to flank or in slot is more like putting them out in pass game as nickel -pass RBs instead of
taking on the role as slot WRs. And i'm thinking Pollard as more of a Darren Sproles, Chris Thompson, Ty Montgomery (a former WR) even such Lance Dunbar moving around in motion/out of backfield and into
the pass game.
- i'm trying to think of part time/limited role players as a guy like McCaffrey is a significant full time featured guy,
but i can imagine Pollard can/will be used in pass game on quick screens, flairs & swing passes, curls and up field wheel routes, occasional slot depending upon packages and situational downs and distances.
We already know what Pollard can do as a ball carrier, and both he and Zeke will flourish in both areas if the
new coaching regime revamp how the RBs will be involved.
- Could there be packages and instances where both Zeke and Pollard can be used in backfield and on the field
at the same time ?
- But i do really believe that if Pollard is going to be used and utilized to his fullest potential and skill set, it will
have to centered, planned and designed led by McCarthy and the new coaches ..rather than relying on Moore and how he used (mis-used?) the RBs.
