I'll take this bet. This logic makes less than zero sense. Even if Dallas has no plans on keeping dak long term..they will franchise him again..there is almost zero change dak isn't the qb next year
I agree, this is a (still) win now team, but with all the new coaches and all the new players, very likely this year will be one for the Cowboys to get "settled in", but once that is done, to let Dak leave, and start over with a new quarterback, or even Dalton, would mean more time to get to a SB level, and the team will begin to lose players like Woods, etc. because they simply can't sign everybody, and the window of opportunity will be gone.
Also, Dak has some improvement to do, yeah Jerry would like the stability of having Dak around for 4-5 more years, but if Dak doesn't improve, or get this team to the SB, Jerry might well lose his enthusiasm for Dak and let him go after two years, IF they can't get a deal done this year.
Regardless, Dak is too good to let go in the HOPE that they can get a stud in the draft, or someone like Rodgers who might finally get fed up with the Packers' failure to get him a proper supporting cast, e.g. Just too much of a risk...
