Dak hate really, really perplexes me. This contract negotiation is annoying as hell and sure he struggles with consistency at times but the guy has been a steal of a 4th rounder. An absolute steal. He’s a good QB.

It really isn’t that annoying, only the peanut gallery is annoying. It’s not like he has been missing mini camps and training camp due to the virus. Perhaps he would have signed the tender earlier if it were preventing him from participating in the camps.

Every company, movie, project, ect ... has a budget. So my company COULD pay me $30 million dollars a year, but to get under budget and not go bankrupt how many jobs would that cost? So instead of "peer salary cap" my company uses "Comp Ratio". I am at the very low end for my title right now, but with any luck, I my comp ratio will improve by the end of the year. And then for some, they can get RSU, discretionary bonuses, or extra PTO as bonuses for exceptional work, which is also budgeted as well.

So while virtually no company calls it a "Salary Cap" they do refer to it as "headcount", "payroll", "comp ratio" or any other various group of words to describe how much of the total revenue can be used to pay employees their salaries.

Franchise tender is guaranteed, with one exception. Once a player signs the franchise tag, the one-year salary becomes fully guaranteed. But there’s a little-known exception. Under Article 10, Section 2 (c) of the CBA, the contract can be terminated if the player fails “to establish or maintain his excellent physical condition.”
