No, what I’ve been watching is a QB with very ordinary speed (Dak ran 4.79) and another that has blazing speed (Lamar ran 4.34). And that Lamar has elite elusiveness and quickness to find and get through even small seams, and even when opponents expect him to run the ball, and that Dak finds running lanes because opponents are playing the pass rather than trying to stop the run.
I can’t for the life of me understand how you could watch the two players run and see even remotely the same running ability. The difference in speed between Dak and Lamar is bigger than the difference between Amari Cooper and Blake Jarwin. Same with elusiveness.
The reason it matters if Zeke has the ball on the majority of running plays instead of Dak is ridiculously obvious. Zeke is easily faster, stronger, and better, and if he gets hurt the team doesn’t also lose the player counted on to complete passes. So what if Mahomes came back after one week. That doesn’t make it the case with every QB that gets injured. Some may be out a month or a year.
Again, Jackson is among the top runners in the entire NFL, and Dak Isn’t elven the best runner on his team.
I think you guys are just confused.
You guys are believing I mean have Dak become Jackson.
Yes and no. Physically they are different for sure.
But from the standpoint of have Dak be more willing to take off with the ball..yes I want that.
Staubach ran wild and destroyed defenses at times by his willingness to do it.
It changed how defenses played him. It opened up throwing lanes for him and he took what was there that was not there before.
Stauback had Dorsett. So sure he could hand off and it was effective. But as a QB you must protect yourself...get down..run out of bounds.
Sooner or later somebody would take a late hit and add 15 yds to the drive.
This was how we would many times win late in 4th Qts..
So I am not saying take the ball out of Zeke's hands to run Dak instead.
I will suggest take some throws from the WRs and tuck and run.
It all depends on how you see it.
It's about opportunity.
I suggest looking at DAKs college video. He ran very well at times and really moved his offense.
