Stidham is better than Cam at this point. Cam was signed to be the backup.

Question: Why are so many thinking Cam is going to start in NE after being signed for a song? He's the backup.

We don't know that. Cam may be healthy and ready to play. My money is on him starting.

Yeah, that's what everyone's saying, but that is absolutely NOT what the signs point toward. Unless Stidham just completely blows, he'll start. And I'd take that bet in a heartbeat!!!!!!

THE best?

Nope. Name one innovation he's brought to the league. Landry invented the Flex defense, refined the Shotgun, developed the 4-3 defense and above all, didn't cheat.

Bill's good, but he's not to Landry's level.

Winning Superbowls isn't enough? Tough crowd when being head and shoulders above all others in that category isn't enough.

Right. This could still make Pats a threat if Bill can keep Cam’s personality in check and healthy.
Healthy is the word. Cam likes to run and he is dangerous but all that running takes it's toll. Cam does have a great arm. If Billacheat can't improve him, nobody can. I think he was brought in to start. That last shoulder injury really messed him up. I am looking forward to seeing how he does.

You'll bet that Stidham starts over Cam? If Cam is injured I'd agree. But I don't think they got him to be backup.

Why? They paid him as a backup.

Are you saying they would have paid him more to be a starter? I think they paid him what he would accept and his role will be what they want it to be. I don't know this Stidham character. But my money is on Cam starting at some point in the season just based on the odds alone.

No it's not enough. Like the win against the Seahawks, but for Carroll's horrendous play call, that's a loss. Three of the wins were by last second field goals, hardly a convincing win. The LEAST any Dallas team won was by 10 pts.

Add to that the spur of the moment invention of the "tuck rule" that saved a loss to prevent them from getting to one SB, and cheating to win another one.

Takes more than wins to be the greatest coach, what if flops from here on out with no Brady? Then it was Brady that got him those SB wins for the most part.

He's an excellent coach, no doubt, but not the GOAT of coaches...

Of course. Not only that, if the NFL saw Cam as a viable starter, he would've been signed for lot more a long time ago. This is all he could get, and it's backup pay.

Who cares if it's convincing? It doesn't have to be for it to be a "win". Not even talking about wins and losses at this point, just whether or not they are "good enough".

If he flops, he flops. Since when has winning every season of a guy's career been the barometer for GOAT? What coach can live up to that standard?

I said it's not about wins, there's more to it. "Greatest" covers far more ground, like not cheating, innovations to the game, etc.

If you think Beli is the best ever, you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't agree...

No one else has done it is such a short period of time. Its put up or shut up. The Patriots put in on the line year in year out... with the cap, with free agency, with the bogus penalties leveled

the tuck rule was in the game before Brady entered the league, lasted thru 2013... and if they were cheating, dont you think they would have won by more than 3, 3, 3, 4, 6 & 10?

Just because you can't see - and based on your post - don't understand - the innovations he's brought to the game doesn't mean they don't exist.

The biggest innovation? The week in week out flexibility of the offense and the defense, tailoring both to the relative strengths and weaknesses of each team they are facing is one hell of an innovation. It took game planning to the next level. The Patriots haven't been married to an offensive or defensive system for a decade+ now. The result? 9 Super Bowls appearances & 6 Super Bowl victories ... 8 conference championships in a row ... all done with the cap ...with free agency ... with the continual drain of institutional knowledge by losing two or more coaches / execs a year...
