When he arrived at training camp in 2018, Marinelli said he was in better shape than anybody on the roster...
The reports of late have been he wasn't that sure he wanted to even try to play football again.
We aren't seeing videos of him with elite workout coaches this go round.

Guess we shall see but put him below Aldon Smith for me on the expectations list.

I'm not convinced Aldon would even be here if they fully expect Gregory back and ready to go at RDE.

You're expecting a lot from a guy who would rather get high than play football.....I'm not expecting much, even if he makes the team...

Somewhere, Randy is inhaling bong hits, wondering when Roger might break down and give him the green light to report!

It may be like they say . . . once a fella starts thinking about retiring, he has already!

I imagine the lack of inclusion has finally worn him down. Either that or it's the weed.

Randy cant even rbeakout of his own funk, let alone be our breakout player. He's gotta get reinstated first THEN all the right things need to happen before we can start having this conversation. Right now its pie in the sky.

I think Parcells said that above statement as well as John Madden. Its so true. If your mentality is your thinking about it, then you already have, then it affects the way you do everything...be it practicing, playing, lifting...running. Its just human nature. FB is mostly a head game, mental. I played HS and some college ball, it is true at that level too. Your mind has to be right for it to work.

Still remember the hype when we got Gregory. Felt like we got 3 1st rounders with Byron Jones, Gregory and La'el Collins. Couldn't sign one to a long-term contract, and the other hasn't been on the field much. We really hit a home-run with the Collins undrafted FA signing. Here's oping Gregory can play well enough for a longer contract. I truly believe we are an elite/blue chip EDGE player away from having a dominant defense.

You've misread. The only word from Randy was that he would be back for good. Anything else was someone else's (Spags) opinion/speculation that they don't know if he wants to come back still since there hasn't been a lot from his side in awhile.

Quote from March:

"I will be back this year," Gregory expressed to me before hammering the nail flush into the wood. "Difference is, I'll be back for good this time."

Xavier Woods, Randy Gregory, and Jourdan Lewis have been breakout candidates for the last three years. They have the tools, yet they are all still in custody. So now, some are thinking they have a shot with a new CO taking over. I say, I'll believe it when I see it. They still need to crawl through 200 feet of raw sewage before reaching the river of opportunity. Let's just hope they pull out their rock hammers this year and get to knocking that wall down.
Still in love with Raguel.

The problem with Randy is the suspension and not being available. In his game against the giants his rookie season he harrassed Elijah all day and played well even without a sack before the high ankle sprain.

We see flashes with Randy that are tantalizing and then he's going, going, gone for weeks if not seasons at a time. I just can't take the will he or won't he and in the back of my mind the fear he's not going to perform if he's cleared to play.

It's the most nerve racking situation on the team. I don't want to hear about potential anymore 5 years removed from his draft. I just want to see what he can do consistently without the spectre of a suspension constantly hanging over his head.

I agree though.

Nice post.

I would be happy if he played 16 games and contributed before worrying about breaking out, first he has to break in...

So, 22 days ago they were expecting to hear soon. Sounds like something has gone wrong.

That would be terrible, to have a breakout player that's constantly one bad decision away from indefinite suspension.

We can hope he contributes, but we could never trust him.

Hey man if this guy isnt gonna get reinstated Jerry needs to get on the phone with certain guys that are still unsigned.

Counting on Aldon Smith isnt the wisest move I've seen, but I guess the FO has to be preoccupied with their QB, who of course has the team in mind.

This guy is a perfect example of the ineptness of this team when it comes to drafting DEs. They draft a knucklehead who failed his Combine drug screening in the second round. They choose underachieving Taco Charlton over overachieving T.J. Watt & his now 35 sacks.
