The notion that "Jerry doesn't want to win; he only wants money" is absurd. Winning is the best way to make money.
Now, you can argue that Jerry doesn't know how to win, and that would be a fair argument. But the notion that Jerry doesn't want to win is completely ridiculous on its face.
I am so glad someone posted this thread and it has gotten some traction. If there was a way to look at the majority of of a forum members posts and summarize them.. what would pop out for me is that Jerry does not care about winning a SB.
He really and truly does not care about Lombardi trophies like us fans do.
He has three rings, he is a HOF'er, he is on all the relevant NFL committees. He purchased the team for 150 million dollars and now they have a book value of over 5 billion, but lets say Bezos wants to buy the Cowboys he, would probably have to spend 6.5 to 7 for this franchise. Just think about that profit.
Jerry already makes more profit than any NFL team, more cash flow. From a financial perspective he is the most successful owner in the league.
Jerry's only goal is to be the greatest show on Earth. He does not want to bottom out. He is fine being between 7-9 and 10-6 every year. Good enough to be competing for a playoff spot, he wants Stephen A , saying the Cowboys will find a way to lose. He wants Skip and Shannon losing their minds talking about Dak, Dallas, Zeke. SNF will move the Cowboy game to Sunday night where we play the Giants, or Eagles and a playoff spot is on the line.
The one time we bottomed out was when we lost to the expansion Texans back in their first game. The David Carr, tape around his wedding ring game. That was the bottom of the barrel, Parcels was hired after that season.
Now if Jerry wanted to win, if I was in Jerry's position, what would any sane person do if they wanted to win?
I would have a board room full of the smartest guys and gals running analytics, running the draft. I would hire the best coaches, best assistants. The one place there is no salary cap is the front office and coaching. We are not Cincy or the Raiders, or the Bills. Each team has the same salary cap but not the same amount of revenue and cash flow.
Jerry would rather have 25 years of mediocrity than deflate his ego to win SB's. That is the reason why he would fire a back to back SB winning coach. My blood boils everytime I think about that this man has done for this franchise.
For all the fans who worship Jerry, please open your eyes and see what he has done to this organization. This owner has been the GM since 1994 and what have we won? Please dont bring up the 1995 SB, that was not Jerry. That team was running on the fumes of Jimmy Johnson, every player to a man will tell you that.
Be prepared if you do a honest evaluation this team has not won a divisional playoff game since January 1996 against the Eagles then they beat the Packers in the Championship game.
What were you doing in 1996? What was the world like in 1996? This is not America's team. Jerry and the lack of a culture is what is wrong with this team.
100% of the blame goes on Jerry because he is the root cause of the Cowboys team culture, lack of accountability.
Of course Jerry has gotten better with drafting, and free agency, but the constant reality show culture is what the problem is and the past 25 years clearly shows that.
I believe in the NFC the only other teams not to make a Championship game are the Lions and Commanders...
