Oh and add to it that truly its going to be more interesting to see if Watsons deal is bloated..

IMO Watson is slightly better then Dak but all things considered, that deal will effect Daks more..

Of course McCarthy wanted Dalton. If Dak were to get Covid 19 who would you rather come in for 2 or 3 weeks? Dalton or Cooper Rush? It was a no brainer.

You should work for Fake News with this spin

Let's also be realistic and realize that Dalton was so sought after he signed for cheap to be a backup. Seems like someone that warrants you to step on your kids toy and run to the phone should warrant a little more than he got. But who knows..
More delusional spin. . . He was signed for cheap, because that's the going rate for QB's who are released by thier teams after the Draft. If truth be told, when he signed, Dak wasn't contractualy part of the team. . . Dalton literaly wa onsidered the starter. . . That's why Dak changed his tune. Without Dalton The Head Coach of the Cowboys would have been at the mercy if Dak. . . Now he has options.

Dalton came home, gets paid and if caled upon, He will have every oppotunity to excel.

(If you are a true Fan you would be able to see that. If Dalton plays the majority of the season He wil be a pro bowler. . . Because of the surrounding talent)

And let's also don't pretend this isn't a two way street. If I'm to believe Jerry is his "only last supporter"(sounds silly to suggest) then you can say the same about Jerry. He's not necessarily the most popular owner out there right now. Dak allows him to save face whether people want to admit it or not.

Why because jerks like Shannon & Stephen A are trying ti put him on the spot.

Get real Jerry has survived this long being Jerry. He doesn't need to pay Dak to "Pander" or "Save Face"

He's good

But its not though lol. I get what you're doing. I get you're trying to devaluing him. But Dak is not equivalent to Julius Jones. Just not.
Dak is a young version of Dalton.

That's just true.

On the other hand, the Chiefs kinda did the same thing with Smith and ended up with Mahomes. You never really know.....
Sure. At the time, Mahomes was seen as a major stretch at #10. The Chiefs got very lucky

And, they had to trade their #1 in 2017, their #3 in 2017 and their #1 in 2018 to move up to get him.

The way fans here claim that our picks are pure gold, can you imagine what the forum would do if the Cowboys had done that to move up from 17 to 6 for Herbert? It eight have cost even more. Would we feel good about letting Dak walk and making thet kind of deal on a QB that very few see as worth the risk?

That’s what the Chiefs did. They captured lightning in a bottle.

No one should use the Magical Mahomes series of events as a blueprint for how to build your team because it’s a huge risk that very rarely pays off.

Fair enough but let's also not skew the facts

Dak has been an All Pro!

Do you remember 2016 rookie season?

So, I guess we'll wait until Dak is an All Pro again....

He was not All Pro.

Matt Ryan was 1st team and Brady was 2nd team.

It was

it wasn’t an actual trade suggestion

what I was stating was if you mess around and let go of Dak through a double tag, you risk ending up like the Commanders

Think e Commanders would like a do-over on how they handles Cousins? They went cheap, tried to get cute, trying to milk a couple of years on the tag and then got stuck

now they have a borderline starting quality QB who better have a big year or he will be a bust

They are ok the verge of being in a QB wasteland where they could wander for years, never able to compete, hoping against hope to find a quality starter.

That’s what we risk by rolling the dice and letting Dak hit true free agency after next season. Someone will pay him, just like the Vikings did, and by that point the relationship will be so bad that Dak will be looking to start somewhere else where a team shows him commitment

Dak is a quality NFL starting QB. People trick themselves into believing those are easy to find

Ask the Commanders.
Ask the Jaguars.
Ask the Bears.
All I am saying is this; no one can predict the Future. Starters come from every rd of the Draft.

Your thought process is flawed because of the desperation it relies on.

That's like saying Michael Gallup should hold out until he sees DeAndre Hopkins next deal.

There is ZERO comparison between Mahomes and Dak.

Mahomes is significantly better at every aspect of the game compared to Dak.
Yep, we all know the WR market value and historical signings are similar to QB market value and historical signings...

Go play stupid context somewhere else

What you say is true to a large extent. Except they had Smith when they made the move to draft PM so they had a starter in place. Not the same situation as the Cowboys were in this past draft with Dak not under contract. The philosophical piece is the part where there is no right answer until its over. They had a legit starter yet because of the importance of the position and the perceived upside they chose to trade significant draft capital to go get PM. Simple concept, great QB play will overcome a lot of other deficiencies. Like great putting in golf. Obviously they got exactly that and therefore their risk has been rewarded many times over. If PM doesn't prove to be an upgrade at the position, then its a colossal failure. No way to be 100% sure when you take the risk. But what can't be overlooked was they clearly felt the team & situation would have to be perfect for Alex to get them a SB win. Thus they weren't willing to just stand pat (no pun intended) and hope but willing to bet on their scouting and take the most direct shot at improving their team which was to find a better QB.

Oh you are clearly trolling so I'm not even going to address the Dalton talk. Either you are trolling or truly believe that and I'm not getting into a debate about this team signing Dalton to be starter because that's just STUPID. Makes ZERO sense.

In regards to Jerry you better believe he's pandering. Go to the 2017 season to see him pander.

And you better believe Jerry wants to keep that locker room happy. You can be naive and cover your eyes and ears if you want but its a different time. Jerry doesn't want to be on the wrong side of the battle.

Dak passed for more yards than both, more TDs than Mahomes and just 1 TD less than Wilson.

Look at numbers that truly tell how good a QB is among his contemporaries...

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/nfl/qb/2019

Dak for sure beats out Wilson in all...and most against Mahomes.

So passing yards is the primary barometer you are using?

Tell me this, if a running back runs for 1,500 yards, but averaged 3.7 yards per carry in doing it, would you say that back is better than one who rushed for 1,000 yards but averaged 4.5?

I'm going to always go with the quarterback who completed a greater percentage of his passes and had a better TD-to-int. ratio over one who didn't, no matter how many yards he threw for. Both Mahomes and Wilson had less than half as many interceptions as Prescott last season, hence the reason their QB ratings are higher.

Turnovers are a huge part of this game, so the fewer that you make, the better off your team is. Dak's numbers in that regard were not bad, but they also were not on the same level as Mahomes and Wilson.

If you want to throw in their rushing, Mahomes ran 43 times for 218 yards and 2 TDs and only fumbled once. Wilson rushed 75 times for 342 yards and 3 TDs and fumbled 3 times. Prescott had 52 rushes for 277 yards and 3 TDs with 2 fumbles. Total turnovers: Mahomes 6, Wilson 8, Prescott 13.

Yeah, I really don't agree on this one. I mean, there were certainly teams who thought he might be a stretch at 10 but certainly not everybody agreed with that. Lots of people who knew talent at QB really liked him.

So I agree, nobody should look at the Mahomes situation and bank on that happening, any more then they should look at situations where teams drafted busts at QB and bank on that. That is why I said, you never know.

Said the person posting non-sequitor WR contract parameters in a Thread title "Dak" " Cowboys Deal" in the aftermath of Mahomes record setting contract.

If your attempt was an analogy then you get an F...

If you are questioning whether I can stay focused on subject material then you are in the wrong class or just a Dak Hater:p

One things for sure Dak is a savvy business man. Todd France and CAA were hired by Dak and his brothers to get them to this position if Dak did his part.....

I really wonder what the Cowboys initial offer was??? In hindsight could be very insulting....

I think the first offer was $25 million a year for seven years lol. People saying Dak has lost money are misinformed. The Cowboys offer has only gone up since negotiations began. Even if Dak ends up taking the $35 million AAV for 5 years, he still is making more than his current tag.

All Rookie is not All Pro. It's not even close.

All Pro is the best player at the position in the ENTIRE NFL. The rookie award there might be a handful of players eligible at the position, sometimes it's by default.

You call me a hater because I stated a fact. A fact is a fact, there is no hate involved. It just is. That's common sense.

The criteria is being one of the best rookies from that year.

Dak won the AP rookie of the year in 2016, along with being on the rookie team.

Zeke won PFWA rookie of the year in 2016. He also made the All-pro team.
Zach Martin was on the rookie of the year team and made the all pro team.

Dak has not been an all-pro selection.

I still say Prescott is crazy for not taking all that he can for as long of a term he can right now.

Betting he is going to cash in again on the wrong side of 30 (he will need to win at least one SB to do so).

The agent could also be fired before the next payday comes, so I dont see why they would push that way.

None of it has ever made any sense to me, but then again, we don't know exactly what is happening.
It used to be they want security and guaranteed money. Then cousins took a short term all guaranteed contract and got paid and hit the market again. Now that’s the trend. Smaller contracts and get all the guaranteed you can and hit the market again because the market will be higher. They are all greedy. Till that one hit happens and your no longer a player again. Dak got hurt and cost us a game. Couldn’t practice all week throws were off. He should have told his agent to go back to the table and I am going with you. We are getting it done.
