The difference is that Dak can throw the football.
Better than Mariota? Welll way to set that bar really high GREAT JOB!!!!

Your Romo obsession is so...cute!
Yup. Romo needed defending from they idiots who thought he sucked and there was no way the Cowboys could ever win as long as he was the QB.Loved Romo as our QB. I stuck up for Romo against the same kind of QB challenged trolls.
Back then the trolls didn't like Romo because he wasn't Brady. Now its Dak because he isn't Mahomes.
Same stupidity, different era.
But hey...…….nobody can top your infatuation with the dumbed up Zeke idiot.
Guess we all need to have our standards.Loved Romo as our QB. I stuck up for Romo against the same kind of QB challenged trolls.

Um...because Dak was a back up QB? Perhaps quality? Which is what this thread is all about?
I could be wrong...but seems somewhat related to me.
Maybe it might mean more if you read the entire discussion between me and cowboysrule before jumping in after just the last comment. To compare Romo getting injured and Prescott coming in and going on a 11 game winning streak after week 1 to those who think there is any real chance in the real world that barring injury that Dalton has even a remote chance of replacing Prescott at any time except possibly garbage time and even that is an extremely remote possibility. There is no way the Cowboys would justify benching their starting QB that cost them 31 mil for their backup that cost them only 3 mil. The only ones that think there is a chance that at any point Dalton replaces Prescott are the Prescott haters.

I got news for you 31m or not if Dak is playing on a 1 year tag this season and the Cowboys have no committment beyond this season, then all cards are on the table. A few bad games in a row or a 3 game losing streak and it is quite possible that the Cowboys would make a change and give Dalton a shot. If however, Dak signs a long term deal before the 15th with the Cowboys guaranteeing a bunch of money then Dak is the starter the entire season and going forward (barring injury) even is he were to go 1-15 this year, but on a 1 year deal with no committment passed this season, well anything could happen
I have heard that before, I forgot they got one of the top qb's in the draft. You seem so mad. You were the one stating the guy with a low contract was no threat to replace the high priced starter even though that's exactly what happened before. It's happened on other teams as well. Yes, Dalton is being replaced by a QB who has never taken a snap before. The #1 overall pick. You act like these things have never happened before.
Just for the record, I don't think Dalton takes a snap this year outside of injury. Even in blowouts Dak has shown he will not leave the game.

If that's the dumbest thing you've ever heard in this day and age you must live a very sheltered life.Dumbest thing I ever heard. Dak isn't going anywhere and Dalton isn't taking over. Poor guys, will you ever get over Romo retiring because Dak took his job?
Score 13-10 and now tell us Dak-troll whos at fault here below why we didn't score on this play? It's thinking like that, that makes me thank God you have zero to do with the Cowboys. Your thinking is wrong on so many levels I'm not sure where to start. First your thinking is that of a Prescott hater. Prescott haters automatically assign ALL losses the Cowboys may have on Prescott. The losses could in reality be more the fault of poor play by the defense or maybe the offensive line gets called for multiple holding calls especially on 3rd downs or maybe Elliott continues his downward slide in production that he's had since his rookie season. But Prescott haters just blame Prescott because they are looking for any reason to get rid of him. Then there's the Prescott haters that say that IF no long term contract is signed by the 15th that these Prescott haters have already decided for the Cowboys that Prescott will be gone after this season. As you say no commitment by Prescott means then that the Cowboys can't after the season ends get a long deal down before free agency starts or tag him again and still get a long term deal done before the deadline next season. But that wouldn't fit in their scenario of getting rid of Prescott. Oh but wait those haters will say that if the Cowboys tag Prescott again that there can't be a long term contract done but how quickly those haters forget that Lawrence was tagged a 2nd time and just days later sign his new contract. Now lets move on to Dalton. The Prescott haters are using any excuse they can so Dalton will go in. Dalton, a QB that the bengals decide that he wasn't good enough to be a starting QB anymore and decided to accept dead money on their cap to get rid of him in favor of a QB that has zero NFL snaps. Yes teams move from vet QB for high rookie draft picks quite often but the fact that they are willing to do it speaks volumes about the vet QB they let go for an inexperienced QB. OH and lets not forget that Dalton even admitted that he was signed as Prescott's backup and that's why the Cowboys got him for a measly 3 mil for 1 year. It's obvious that you can justify sitting 31 mil for 3 mil but actual professionals won't do that. Unfortunately for you, you don't speak for the Cowboys just like I don't but at least I use realistic thinking in what I'm saying.

One of many games of inches moments where Dak falls short!!!!
So you haven't seen me be critical of zeke? Or you just cherry-picking as usual?Loved Romo as our QB. I stuck up for Romo against the same kind of QB challenged trolls.

So that makes it simple why dalton was released.

This is what I was thinking.
If Dak plays on the tag, and plays poorly , or gets concussed, they will be far more likely to put dalton in.
However Dalton would have to then look good to stay in.
And depending on how dinucci does in camp, it is possible he could get thrown in if dalton was hurt or played poorly.
That is literally what happened with Romo. See, what you Dak lovers do is give Dak credit for every win. Even when the run game is dominant and the defense is doing their part it's still somehow all because of Dak even when he is barely surpassing 200 yards a game. Romo was clearly light years ahead of Dak (which he should've been. Prescott was a rookie, Romo was a seasoned veteran) and gave us the best chance to win. However, he also had a high cap hit and was near the end of his contract whereas Dak did not and was stuck with us for several years. That's why they kept Dak in. That's why they denied Romo's request for a fair and open competition for the starting QB spot.Maybe it might mean more if you read the entire discussion between me and cowboysrule before jumping in after just the last comment. You sure seem to run to his defense a lot. And lately when I say something bad about Zeke you turn to cutting up Dak. Which IM not sure makes sense if you like Dak as a QB. You don't want to get labelled as a Dak hater do you?
I would never cut up another player just for affect. After all, the only credibility any of us posses on a fan forum is what we get right and what we get wrong.
Just take a look at that executive that said Zeke is outside the top 10 RB's in the NFL. He has lost credibility because of his opinion. Even though the few points that he makes in his statement are spot on.
