I could be wrong but I'm guessing Griffin not being here is 100% MM call. He's played against him twice and his former defensive coor is on staff. I have to believe if MM wanted him here, he would here already. But the fact he's still w/o is odd. Hell, I haven't seen anything even linking him to a team. Maybe there's something the guy known in league circles we don't know about.
We know he has talent........maybe some locker room issues or something between his ears.
At least we've heard the FO having SOME interest in Clowney but he's too expensive. Not so with Griffin......
Griffin has had some psycho issues in the past. That has to be factored, evaluated, and if he can be Charles Haley type handled.
Everson also will be 33 yrs of age come December, and that's probably why he is pressing for that last chance for a last multi-year
contract which is likely to be his last contract for a career.
- And Stephen Jones historically has been very leery about signing on older vets for long term contracts.
Our current 30 yr guys are really just on one year type deals, (even though Poe is listed as 2 years, but 2nd year is optional)
But if Cowboys can
somehow reach an 1 year deal with Griffen with assurance that the medical issues being handled,
- Maybe some may argue Crawford's locker room, sideline leadership, experience in 4-3 and 3-4 schemes, and versatility
to play DE and DT, but that still also comes up with an only decent, limited player still recovering from 2 hip surgeries vs
still a pro bowl caliber level edge rusher player like Griffin.
- That's i would more than be glad to accept a Griffin for Crawford exchange.
Swap Crawford's ridiculous 9 million to give to Griffin's one year deal.
