Totally disagree.

Which one? For me it matters. Who cares? I do. Trying not to start any thread fights but in MY opinion any character should be the closest representation of what its creator or creators initially envisioned.

Example? The Joker. The character was not first conceived as a clown but as sociopathic mass murderer. Any closest depiction of that particular character description is Best Movie Villain in my opinion. Just my two cents.
i singled out ledgers performance because you told us we had to.
but when thinking of the greatest villains....i think the character itself....not actors performance.
the joker....the character....is one of the greatest ever.
and if you wanna get real...the killing joke is the best presentation of that character in a movie....voiced by mark hamil.
on tv.....as seen in batman:the animated series.
in any format...the graphic novel...the killing joke.
close 2nd...arkham assylum by grant morrison.
close 3rd...a death in the family...when joker beats robin to death with a crow-bar.

but we will just disagree on this.
unless you are specificly asking me who played him the best...when i think best villain
..i think the character itself.
atleast in the case with the joker who has been presented in so many different forms...comics,tv,movies.

We still disagree but not totally.

The Killing Joke as the best movie villain representation of The Joker? Nope. And Hamil’s voicework is a REPRESENTATION of a clown circus big top barker.

Television? I cannot name the Young Justice episode off the top of my head but Joker was teamed up with other super villains in a Victor Savage scheme attempting to deceive the Justice League. One television episode appearance better than any I had previously seen.

The Killing Joke GRAPHIC NOVEL? Mostly agree.

The Arkham video game representations? Ditto, although I have only played the first three installments in the series.

After re-reading some of my most recent comments, I wanted to be on the record stating I have been and always will be a big fan of Batman: The Animated Series. Just because I am critical does not mean I am twisted. :)

the killing joke to me is what the joker is all about.

i said arkham asylum....i think the actual title of the graphic novel by grant morrison was haunted arkham.

the laughing fish was a great joker story from the comics and a really stand out episode from the animated series.

the favor was another great episode from b:tas.

until the killing joke...under the red hood was the best presentation in a animated movie....i just didnt care for his voice.
but the character....his scenes and the lines...were awesome.
until the killing joke.

You may not be a gamer but I can assure you of one thing:

If you are a Batman fan, you will love the Arkham games. Not like. Love.

i was right the first time.
morrison's comic story is arkham asylum.
haunted arkham was a different story...not sure if morrison wrote it or not.

What if the villain is from a comic book? What if there were no Oscar nods? What if neutrinos suddenly gain mass?
how could the villain be a comicbook villain if the criteria set is MOVIE VILLAIN.

if there were no oscar nods...it goes to my 2nd tie breaker...oscar nods for the film.

if that doesnt work....then go with which film grossed the most.
