Mm is a real hc, and a real hc is in charge and decides when and if he is going to reach out to players

He’s not beholden to them and I think he’s going to change the culture In a very positive way here...I suspect this is more a factor of that then not needing dak

Here..

I have suspected this for sometime.

The fact your new HC does not talk on the phone the week he was hired even to just say how's the weather?

You have to wonder how this relationship is going to work out.

Your thread is misleading. He isn't saying Dak isn't needed to have a good QB, he's saying that unlike Dak's relationship with Garrett, McCarthy doesn't need Dak for money (he already has it), or legacy (he's already won a Super Bowl) or to hold on to his job (he has a new 5 year contract). Herd just said the relationship with Dak isn't currently the same as it was with Garrett and Dak because both guys needed each other, and that now the relationship is more tilted toward Dak needing McCarthy. He also said that could change as the season goes on.

As for McCarthy not calling Dak until a week after he agreed to coach the Cowboys, that's hardly proof of anything. Maybe McCarthy didn't think it was that important, but that's not the only possible explanation. It may also be he felt his first priority was to build his coaching staff, or maybe he felt there was no rush, or maybe he was reluctant to start a communication with a player in a tough contract negotiation, maybe he had the flu or was on vacation. The right explanation isn't always the one most akin to a soap opera.

As long as Mike McCarthy makes the decision. I am ok with it.

If he chooses to keep Dak. Great.

if he chooses to draft a QB. As long as he scouts and picks the QB. Then that’s great too.

I just don’t want Jerry or Stephen making the decision. I trust McCarthy.

I think Mike McCarthy has his hands full right now to get his staff fully in sync to carry out his plans. He'll see enough of Dak and all his other charges when they're present and accounted for in the days ahead. What lies ahead for his relationship with Dak should be determined once they learn more about what to expect from one another. I think MM could quite possibly be a valuable influence on Dak to develop further as a QB. Whether he chooses to consider drafting a QB later could easily be influenced by his experiences with Dak as his QB. I wouldn't be too surprised if MM might even make a difference in Dak's current feelings about the Cowboys organization.

Collin Cowherd?
:lmao:

He's nothing but a click bait style "sports journalist".

I hear you but I like Colin C. At least he can be interesting / insightful at times.

BTW I don't have any inside information but at least outwardly it would not appear that Big Mike is running around screaming for Dak. McCarthy knows QBs. That means something. I still like Dak but it is very curious.

some of his quotes are a bit incorrect, broaddus didn't say those things, a former coach he asked responded to his questions with those remarks. most assume the former coach was a former dallas coach, but it was never stated, so it could have been a former girls middle school volleyball coach for all we know.

Yes was just thinking, Dak being a FA, or soon would have been until he was tagged. This may not have been allowed anyway.

I don't know if it was allowed or not - it may not have been - but even if it was, it's certainly possible that McCarthy might not have felt it was appropriate during a tough negotiation to talk to Dak as if he was certain to get a new contract

I disagree with Colin. Dak is the starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys. McCarthy is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. How in the hell do both not need each other? Colin honestly believes that Mike doesn't care about losing football games as a head coach? Dumb. I usually actually agree with Colin but this take is way out there.

I would not be surprised at all to see Dallas take a QB early in the 2021 draft.
It obviously depends on if the Cowboys work something out with Dak. If they don't a QB becomes a major priority. If they do, I still would expect the Cowboys to draft a QB, but more likely 4th or 5th round.
