It's hard to judge.
When Swaim was healthy..Jarwin was 3rd string.
When Rico Gaithers was being talked up..even he was fighting with Rico for any snaps.
He had a handful of catches last year and a couple of big plays because there were some blown coverages he got by.
We still have a problem with TE.
Yes Lamb is going to take up some of the slack.
But blocking in the run game and pass protection from TE will be needed.
I hope Schultz is capable of adding something..otherwise..
I think we all will see TE disappeare from the picture until we find one by trade or draft.
- And between still being raw underdeveloped and inexperienced when the likes of Swaim was ahead
of the ex-Practice Squader. Jarwin had to deal with the issue with Garrett/Witten favoritism, with
ancient slow plodding Witten hogging 80% plus percent that all the more staggered Blake's moment.
With Witten finally gone (again) the total floor now Jarwin's to command, we should see more flashing moments from Blake while he still
develops.
- Jarwin's work ethic, preparation and drive put him in a position to surpass Rico Gathers for reps and snaps.
That's why Blake was not only elevated from practice squad to active roster
(when it was also being known that the Iggles tried to pouch him from our PS)
- And different coaches and teams have a different schemes in terms of how they expect their TEs to block.
Garrett regime expected their TEs like Witten,James Hanna and Geoff Swaim to man up with opposing DE's
Some lightweight TEs just cannot physically do that.and when i watch games of other teams with lightweight TEs
they don't seem to require their TEs to be that kind of frequent in-line blockers vs DE's,..the way Garrett regime
seems to prefer.
- i do worry about the TE depth though. Should the Jarwin- Blake get dinged and be out for games, is the
other Blake ( Bell) capable of filling in adequately as a receiver ? That's probably when coaching adjustment
schemes would need re-adjusted and improvised.
