The "Griffen is Charles Haley" Comparison

Does griffen have haley's sense of humor. One of the players from the 90's said charles first practice he walked up to michael irvin and told him "you ain't no jerry rice " then he went to aikman and said "you ain't no joe Montana " he was joking, but you had to get to know him to get it.

Am I the only person who thinks signing Everson Griffin makes Aldon Smith even more intriguing?

I was worried about Aldon Smith being a full time starter and who knows what he has in him but if he can return to even 70 percent of the player he was and be a situational pass rusher...

I like the Griffen signing, but this can be a little pre-mature. The Cowboys were the 17th ranked defense before Haley came to town, and after his arrival they were #1. 6 sacks or not in 1992, he was a two time DPOY and a HOF'er.

If Griffen can manage a 16 game season without issue, and a few sacks, I'd call it a brilliant signing.

He was never NFL DPOY...he won the NFC award twice, but the 1994 one actually went to Deion who was in the NFC.

Haley had a number of problems that prevented him from being as elite as his talent should have made him. That is why the Niners let him go and why most at that time considered obtaining Haley as a risk by Jerry.

No one considers Griffen elite and no one ever considered him a risk to acquire him by the Cowboys. We may very well win the next 2 SBs but the acquiring of Griffen will never be a rightful comparison to Haley as a reason why.
You must not have been around much. Both Haley and Griffen had issues. Not on the field issues but off the field issues. Do your research before posting ********.

What he posted is truth.

Once again, our chief of personnel, Stephen, continues to improve the team in his quiet, understated manner. Smith and griffen. Poe and mccoy. Blake bell. Worley. Dix. Potentially strong draft class. Is he done? Can there be one more deal yet to be made?

Not even close. Like I said, you must not have been around or had your head up your *** during that time. I’ve been there so know the feeling.
Were you never taught good manners during your childhood. It would seem not.

You must not have been around during the 90s. Revisionist history at it's finest. You are literally known as a joke around here. Moron.

Moron huh? Ok, I just consider the source. Have a wonderful Sunday.

You're comparing Griffens issues to Haley's issues....heck of a drug

That's my kinda guy.

BTW, the other starters on that 1992 DL were Tony Tolbert, Russell Maryland and Tony Casillas. All excellent players but none of them were elite guys that overshadowed Haley. The key to that SB was the Triplets.

I think lots of quality depth on the dline. "Rushmen?"

Totally agree, he was the pass rusher that was missing before.

My OP wasn't that Haley and Griffen are the same player, but that he could be the same type of missing link that puts the Cowboys over the top.

For direct comparison, those teams had Haley and Tony Tolbert. This one now has DLaw and Griffen. Which pair would you rather have?
Haley and Tolbert. Haley had some of the best inside pass rush moves I ever saw. Unlike many DEs who just try and bend dip and out athlete the OT off the corner. Tolbert has to be one of the most underrated and under appreciated players to ever wear the star.
