Recap: According to Fish, Cowboys likely to pass on Earl Thomas

Not surprising news. This has been a non-story since the trade inquiry in 2018.

Thomas puts this defense over the top. We need a playmaker at safety desperately. That being said, I wouldn’t want to commit to a multi-year contract. He’s a 1 year deal guy, maybe give him an option for a 2nd year if he meets incentives.

Jerry sounded sincerely interested and sounded to me like he wants to sign him.
that sounds more likely to be wishful thinking. I got from him that it hasn't been ruled out but evaluating safety position as a whole.

Would be ridiculously idiotic to pass without even bringing him in and discussing everything. How many time are they going to pass on filling their biggest need for the past 10 years when player after player just falls in their lap?

I mean to me there isn’t much to evaluate.

Woods is solid. Last year of his contract so you should know if you plan on bringing him back
HaHa has been bad all camp
Wilson is young and inexperienced
Thompson is a JAG. He was bad in New York and when he started last year we couldn’t wait for Jeff Heath to come back.

Jerry: I just wanted to call a press conference to remind everyone that my (ahem) is bigger than anyone else's in this organization.

not a press conference. its one of this two weekly interviews on the fan. He speaks every tuesday and friday.

If Earl is serious about signing with the Cowboys, it’s in his best interest to develop a substance abuse problem and sit out 2-3 seasons.

Then......Jerry & Stephen will be all over him.

Yup ...... This guy does not smoke enough dope for the Cowboys to be interested.
