Jerry is bringing ET in. After listening to how they are so uncomfortable at safety they are now letting corners "try it out" at safety tells you everything you need to know about our safety position.

Imagine if a probowl DE was available and the team decided to try out Lbers or DT's at the starting DE spot.

Our safeties are so bad the team is trying to see if players who are not safeties can figure out how to play safety 2 weeks before the season starts. Yikes

Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan the Cowboys are still weighting the possibility to pursue Earl Thomas, who was cut by Baltimore on Sunday. Jones said he has not spoken with Thomas yet but a final decision on whether to sign him will come down to the owner.

Sure sounds that way.

Jerry wants one thing and everyone else wants something else.

And now he’s going into salesman mode.

You'd have to be clueless to think that.

The single dumbest thing I've read from this fan base is this Jerry doesn't run the team fantasy. It's merely a defense mechanism to shield themselves from a truth they don't want to accept.

His son is a secretary. McClay is a gofer. Absolutely nothing gets done in the organization without the approval of Jerry Jones.

This is one time I won't be upset if Jerry gets his way.
If Jerry signs ET, he will be repeating the undermining of his head coach. His brand new coach.

This is the kind of stuff Jerry has done for 25 years- fantasy football roster moves against the wishes of the very football experts he’s hired that have forgotten more about football than Jerry will ever know. Like the 2006 signing of TO against Parcells wishes. Many would argue that signing was a good one.

But what was the bottom line result when TO was here? Zero playoff wins and resulting in the need to get his team bad influence out of the locker room by 2008.

If JJ signs ET against the advice of his HC, it’s another stupid move among many. He will have proven once again, he’s learned nothing.

Except drafting Johnny Manziel.

So you know McCarthy is against ET? He said that? If not then Jerry aint undermining anything.

Wrong. They had to convince him not to. Why do you have to convince someone who doesn't run the team of anything? They had to change his mind because they don't run the team.

I mean I'm not going to have a serious conversation about whether Jerry Jones runs the Dallas Cowboys. It's idiotic.

I am not saying that at all. He calls the shots. But he's not this piece of iron that can't be bent. There have been multiple examples of Jerry having a moment of clarity in between his many decisions made in the haze of Johnny Walker Blue.

Except that McCarthy made a point to say he doesn’t handle personnel decisions.

I think Mac said it between the lines in a recent statement where he talked about signing free agents who were a “locker room fit”. He also said he was happy with the players he had.

Of course I could be wrong, but that locker room fit comment has meaning IMO. Despite ETs talent, there is no question he has been a locker room problem in Balt and also the last two years in Sea. The speed at which the ravens got rid of him and the stories out there about him not taking coaching, fighting with teammates make him radioactive IMO.

Do I know for sure Coach Mac doesn’t want him? No. Would I surprised if he does? Yes. Do I think Earl Thomas would be good for this team? No.

My total speculation... fwiw, maybe nothing.

It is still ringing in Jerry's head that he's said the word "grace" about a hundred times in the last few weeks. And he can't help but apply the principle if he sees any sliver of a reason to apply it.

They wanted the player for so very, very long. They obviously really, really like the player.

But now they're in a situation where they have to measure and evaluate this new evidence that he could be a Greg Hardy repeat.

Extend grace and assume the best?

Or remember lessons from the Greg Hardy ordeal?

It will be interesting to see what happens.

You can’t put a square peg in a round hole. We need a great S and ET is the closest thing available. Maybe we draft one now. You don’t know what you’re missing until you need it and don’t have it.

Thank god fans aren’t running personnel although Jerry seem to think like a fan. Too many fans see talent alone and do not take into account other factors that need to go into whether or not a guy is worth signing.

My opinion of ET is he is a bigger headache than his aging overpriced talent is worth. If you can’t fit in with Pete Carrol and John Harbaugh, two of the most player friendly coaches in this league, something else is at play. Thomas played pretty well last year. So for Balt to decide he has to go says a lot about his locker room problems. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Kind of weird when your point has to make an assumption just to be a point.

Where do you see the HC doesnt want ET?
If the HC is trying out back up CB's at safety to see if anyone can step up and learn the position 2-3 weeks before the season starts then he clearly wants a better option at safety.
