QB's and skill position players are so reliant on scheme, coaching, culture, etc...

However a dominate defensive player can make a difference even on a bad team.

As much as I dislike saying it...

Reggie White
or
Lawrence Taylor

The best defensive player I've ever seen is Lawrence Taylor. The best two safeties I've seen are Lott and Reed. Reggie White was a beast and a great clubhouse presence. Couldn't go wrong with any of those guys.

But I think we're seeing the best QB in NFL history in Kansas City right now. I remember Montana and Marino. I saw the entire careers of Elway and Favre and Brady and Manning. Not sure I'd take any over Mahomes through three seasons. He's Dan Marino with Roger Staubach's mobility. He's Aaron Rodgers without the pissy entitlement attitude. I don't think QB is a need for us, at all. Dak is very good. But Mahomes is on another level that very few reach.

Yes, your pick applies immediately to the 2020 Dallas Cowboys, and you’ll have said selection for their entire career. Who do you choose?

Mahomes? Brady? Staubach? Montana? Rice?

**** mods I posted this before I was done. It’s supposed to be a game about drafting whoever you want in NFL history in their rookie year, and they play for your team for their entire career.
I'd seriously consider prime Lawrence Taylor as I think he makes this 2020 Cowboys a champion (assuming you slot in experienced LT not rookie LT). With a better defense, this offense has more than enough to excel, with a dominant D this team could have a cake walk.

If you have to pick one player only than it has to be a QB.
They are a rare breed that can transform an entire franchise.
Tom Brady, he puts rings on fingers.

Troy Aikman.

We know that he objectively won 3 Super Bowls. Only 3 QBs in history have more rings and none were Cowboys.

I'll take Troy. He would have almost as much offensive talent than his 90s teams.

Problem there is he could have a career-ending injury this fall. Then you've chosen three and a half years of Mahomes over, say, twelve years of Lawrence Taylor.

Since this team doesn’t like to draft a Safety in the first round in a decade plus....I would pick one of these great S’s from this list of Hall of Famers:
  • Ronnie Lott
  • Ed Reed
  • Troy Paulumalu
  • Steve Atwater
  • Cliff Harris
  • Darren Woodson (should be in the HOF!)

This team is 1 Franchise QB away from a Superbowl.
Roger or Troy, you're up.....
