Lol, that “cow college” afforded me the job to live in Palo Alto. Meanwhile, you’re living on the ground floor apartment in Rancho Cucamonga with the bedpan flipper supporting you.
Im an East coaster (WNY, or American Canada) so Im ignorant about this. However, Workaholics portrays Rancho Cucamonga as an exciting place to be a stoner

Because they were already on the hook for paying Marcus Peters 15 Million this year, Tavon Young 8MM, ET 15 Million, etc.

This is like the Randall Cobb signing. I'd rather have a solid guy at a decent contract than gamble on performance and attitude for three times as much money.
Some here will call that being cheap.

And what job is that?

As long as we sign him to play CB and not Safety. I know fans get excited about playing a CB at S but it never works out for us

But in this scheme I could really see it. Its more about trusting Will McClay, with a huge dose of "Don't want Darian Thompson" added in.

I like the option of Brandon Carr at Safety over Earl Thomas from what we know right now. Some points in Carr’s favor –

1 – the Dallas scheme now plays deep safeties that are now closer to the CB position than the interchangeable SS/FS style the old scheme featured.

2 – Carr has always been a team leader while ET left the Ravens under ehem…..very unfavorable circumstances.

3 – Carr is very dependable, he has played 192 of 192 games in his 11 seasons. Thomas has had major injuries and hasn’t started all 16 games in five years. Carr is 34 but Dallas once thought Terrence Newman was washed up at that age and he started for another six seasons in the NFL.

4 – Carr made 6 Million for each of the last three years and would likely take less than that now on a deal that was mostly incentives. If ET chased Garrett into the tunnel to ask him to sign him, only to take the highest bid in Baltimore, it doesn’t make me think he will back off high contract demands. ET is clearly about taking the most money. We have the money, but that isn’t really the personality this coaching staff wants.

5 – ET’s play dropped off last year and plenty of CBs have extended their careers moving to Safety like Carr would in this move.

6 – Carr already played some safety last season and Darryl Worley can play safety early in the season, I don’t worry about either Carr or ET being able to step into the lineup after a game or two.

don’t want.

he isn’t a S.

he’s a corner.

I live in West Hollywood and have for 20 years, I've posted about it for years before Cal Poly started stalking me. Its a place he could never afford or fit into, and he brags about the fact he went to college in San Luis Obispo, a Central CA town of 50,000.

Long story short, he is a loser and a liar.

The narrative that Earl Thomas’ play has declined to a significant degree is just as wrong. He graded as PFF’s #12 overall S and within top 3 for coverage last year. Give me ET all day over Carr. For one year, I simply don’t care if anyone in the locker room likes him. I want a true S who can play and create turnovers.

100%.....PPF has an article that clearly shows little or no drop off from his play with the Ravens. If posters/fans have issues with his behavior or work ethic last year, fine, I'll give you that but stop saying he's washed up coz it's not true.

We have tried it in different schemes and it just doesnt work. Its never seemed like a good idea to me anyways. Those positions have two different skill sets

ET didn’t help his cause when he gave the Hawks sideline the finger when he broke his leg.

there are too many good football players out there to put up with that attitude.

the ravens had enough.

I said his play dropped off, "washed up" is something a troll made up. ET with his head on straight is clearly the better player but there is a cost in dollars and locker room drama. (I don't put any credibility into PFF).

From the smoke signal out of McCarthy, it sounds like our Head Coach doesn't think that cost is worth it.

This is a new scheme. And I listed Worley and Woods as guys who have played both CB and Safety, from the team visit Carr had I do think the team is kicking the tires on this.

why does it have to be new ?

It’s cover 1 or 3. Press or off man.

Are we going back to more cover 2 looks?

It’s game week and we still don’t have a working defense.

Play CB in a pinch and playing it full time are two different things.

Just because its a new scheme doesnt turn a bad idea into a good one. A CB is a turn and run position, and S is reacting to a play in front of you. Occasionally a CB will make a good S, but more more times than not you are gonna Byron Jones, or worse yet Alan Ball. Ball actually had a couple solid years at CB in Jacksonville after they converted him back to CB

And Carr is definitely not a Safety. He is a bump amd turn CB. Which is probably why they are looking at him

Exactly who I'm speaking to ( not you lol)

BTW....not sure about MM and ET. All I know is Jerry and Stephen have had tons of chances to kill the rumor but won't. As for Carr, I wonder if they're considering adding him to the PS.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Carr can be our CB4 and S3 (or possibly a starter).

More importantly, he's a veteran leader. This group lacks that voice. Remember in All or Nothing when Scandrick went off on the D? That was his unit, rookies Awuzie, Woods, Lewis, and 2nd year Brown. They need that voice in the room.

only i didn't see any mention of brandon carr being a ball hawk .does he make big plays?...what his ratio with games played/turnovers created ?
and there's a difference between a guy that can be placed at safety..vs a guy that has excelled at safety

i guess it really is a totally different league rule when it comes to the league's practice squad when considering adding a 35 year old vet grey beard to the PS.
Question: - what good is the vast experience of a 11th year, 192 career vet being on a practice squad do us ,when we much need that game experience here on game day?

What do you call a WR with really bad hands? A Cornerback.

What do you call that Corner when he turns 35? A Safety.

Kidding, I don't have a strong opinion on the next move but I do think Carr as a Safety is a strong possibility.
