To be fair that sound nothing like what you originally posted. "hurry up and sign him" vs. "when he is able to sign" are two totally different things. Add to that "before Lamar" vs. "Jackson can sign now but clearly the Ravens do not have to pay him now" and...

I can see the confusion is all I am saying.
To be clear.....I want Dak to sign before Jackson.....which is exactly was in my original post. This is silly.

Interesting how Fish wants you to believe he's breaking every Cowboy story

Looks like a move to get Dak signed. If they are looking to create cap space now Crawford is a logical choice. Amazing that guy is still there. At a minimum I would have thought the could pressure him into a reduced salary.

Note it's for Dak, NOT ET. Guess it's safe to say Dak WILL get his deal after the season

I'm not a cap expert, but wouldn't signing someone (e.g. ET) to a 1-year deal this year mean that the money will be freed up by next year for Dak's contract?

This is news how?

We literally write deals with the intent to automatically restructure to take advantage of the opportunity to spread cap hits to the back end of the deal.

This story could have been written the second we saw the contract terms.

Thats exactly right. but my biggest concern is if Dak under performs, what happens then.
I hope that Dak fulfills all expectations and gets his pay day, got no problem with that.
I just havent seen enough to expect or anticipate that to actually happen.
Will be an interesting season, Daks time to prove it.

The strangest part about the Crawford situation is that, if I remember correctly, Crawford himself indicated that he was willing to take a pay cut. There has to be some logic on the team’s part for not going down that road, but the logic of that one escapes me. I thought maybe it was because the team planned on cutting him outright, but so far that does not seem to be the case.

As for Dak, it’s a shame we couldn’t draft Hurts in about the 4th round. Lol.

But nothing would roll over. This is how I see it in overly simplistic terms that I can make sense of. If the cap was $100 million next year then rolling over $8 million from this year would give Dallas a $108 million cap next season. If they signed ET to that $8 million this year, nothing gets pushed to next season and Dallas would still have only $100 million cap to work with.

That’s the whole point, we don’t need a QB that can carry a team on his back with all the soldiers. Start screwing around trying to find the perfect QB and the current window will slam shut.

Yeah, we do. That's the difference between Good teams and Championship teams, in many cases.

Takes a man to admit when they are wrong.
I'm glad you can admit it lol. If you believe that I have over 5000 posted comments on this site and didn't know that Dak was on the franchise tag and couldn't sign a new deal this year......I have no words #speechless

Dak already turned down the best deal he'll get.
We need to be prepared to move on from Dak after this season.
Highly unlikely he turned down the best deal he will get unless he regresses big time but we’ll see.

yet Crawford's deal remains untouched..hmmm:rolleyes::huh:
Because he is a UFA next year. Now if they can find someone to handle all the duties he can for less then fine cut him and take the cap hit this year. My guess is they cannot find a 2-fer guy out there that gives everything he does. Maybe if McCoy didn't blow out his quad tendon maybe he would have been a cut.

Yeah, we do. That's the difference between Good teams and Championship teams, in many cases.
Take Brady and Belichick out of the equation and those “many cases” are greatly reduced or the teams had great defenses. Ya know another thing most of those Championship teams had in common in many cases? They didn’t have the highest paid RB or rushing leader on their team. Jerry blew a lot of money by allocating it to the wrong position.

As I said, you may be able to pick up a FA QB next year on a short term deal for much less but if you think we can draft a QB and not waste a couple years on developing him (if he even turns out to be good) then you’re dreaming.

The cap credit is in essence sort of away to soften the hard cap. if the cap next year is 200 mill and you roll credit of 8 mill now your cap is 208 mil. A reward for not spending to the cap but above the floor.

No, this is not true at all. I mean, if you are like 20, maybe you see it that way but if you have watched the NFL for any length of time, you can see how inaccurate this statement is.

I don't condone what this team has done with other players but so what. All of that is done. I absolutely do think we can draft a QB or sign one and be competitive if it came down to that. The point is that nobody knows what will or will not happen with Dak in Dallas. Hopefully this year will help us see if all of that settles out and we have a QB who can work within the current cap structure and who can take us to the next level. But if not, then move on I say.

I didn't say you didn't know. I said it sounded like you didn't know. And based on your post, it's an easy assumption. Then you tried to hide it with your response quoting yourself but you left out the most critical part. I guess thinking no one would no. You you should just keep quiet because every post you make you're making yourself look worse and worse.

Why would I care how I sound to you? I am only responding for my personal amusement of how you keep trying to tell me that I didn't mean what I said......which was I want Dak to sign before Jackson. And even when I said that I said it as a joke in regards to be part owner. You can continue.....I'm still laughing

Why would you care? Because you've responded 4 or 5 times already.
