You know nothing about my anger and whether it is real or fake, Dr. Freud.

You know nothing about how depression and suicide have impacted me and the people around.

You know nothing about the caseload of people I help navigate these problems every day.

Obviously it’s something I feel strongly about. It’s not about Bayless having a stupid sports opinion. It’s about him having a platform that reaches millions of people and him using it to further perpetuate a dangerous stigma.
He's always negative about everything. Just have to ignore him.

Nah i'm just not down for everyone doing the pile on like people tend to do with their fake anger.

None of you are really that upset about what he said.

Everyone is just doing what they do now days and wanting to cancel the guy because he said something out of bounds.

People act like they are so perfect and so high and mighty but if you put any human in front of a camera 5 days a week and let them talk they are bound to say something stupid.

Today's culture lives for this.. Everyone is excited that Skip said something stupid and now they can all prepare their nauseating speech about how brave Dak is while patting themselves on the back.

I'm sure many of the people upset about what he said are the same people who claim they don't take his football opinions serious too.

If you don't take his football opinions serious why would you care about his very specific depression opinion.
actually most people on here, including myself have been wanting to get rid of this guy for years. he is not a journalist, he is not a sport journalist, he doesn't even understand the sport, he is trying to be a shock jock, getting reactions and making money, dignity and everything else be damned.

and reading through most of the posts, nobody acted perfect or high and mighty. they criticized Skip (right fully so even Fox sports criticized him). so lets not spin this into something to try to prove yourself right....

show me who on this board outside of a few trolls was ever excited about anything Skip said?

Let's cancel him.. Get him fired.. Beat him down.. I'm sure that will teach him. It will feel so good when all those things are accomplished won't it?
The people upset aren’t displaying “fake anger” they are tired of mental illness being downplayed in the media.
In Canada we have a thing called “bell
Let’s talk” it’s basically a huge donation to mental heath research that bell does. Every text sent on their network is like 5 cents being donated.
The people who are upset are talking about freedom of speech and like you “fake anger”. If my fiancé wasn’t belittled and made to feel like she should suck it up and go on with life maybe she would still be here today friend. And because of people like you and statements like “I’m tired of today’s society” people like her get shunned. Maybe if people like yourself and skip Bayless knew when to be sensitive to issues and understanding of those afflicted with this horrible disease that is depression she wouldn’t have stuck a needle in her arm and overdosed. But hey. Let’s all be “fake angry”

I don't understand why anyone would want to rag on a man for admitting that his brother's suicide put him in a depression. I've seen posters here vent over far less, with nobody being dickish enough to get on their case about it.
It's not like Dak's admission is going to send ripples of despair through the locker room. If anything, it'll unite the team even further.

In all fairness to skip here, and I think this is an issue with watching the full segment vs the clip that is going around. Towards the end of the segment Skips comments seemed to suggest that he didnt think Daks brothers suicide was a factor here, and that Daks mental health issues were related to the isolation from Covid.

If that's true, he probably SHOULD be fired. Having a stupid, callous opinion is one thing, not researching your topic of conversation for a daily show is just unprofessional.

BINGO. Thats exactly what they want. Its the CC. I am no fan of Skip and his ilk, but using the hive mentality to squash those who disagree with you is no different than what 3rd world countries do and have done...ie Cuba and Germany back in the day. This is a nasty path to go down. AGREE.
Nobody has even suggested losing his job lol....talk about overreaction.

As i said in my other reply to @CATCH17

Its because of people like Skip, and people like the ones so outraged at the people that are outraged at what Skip said that depression and mental health issues are still thought of as being "weak" and or not being cared about.

Its because of comments like Skips and comments like the aforementioned resident idiot that my fiance didnt seek help and is no longer here. I applaud you for navigating these dark waters my friend.

Uhhh have you read the thread? I think thats the whole reason this has lasted as long as it has. Very few agree with skip on the subject, the issue is people who want him removed, suspended, etc.

Just a thought. Maybe the people who want him gone are people directly affected by the issue he basically said is irrelevant. Ill tell you right now. If Mr. Bayless had ever lost anyone to suicide because of depression he would have a very different view. Maybe i should go on TV and say if you're an alcoholic you're weak. Then Skip would be as upset as anyone who's lost people to depression.

I want Skip removed from my TV/Radio airwaves and I get my wish everyday by simply tuning to another channel. I've never liked his take on sports going back to the 80s. He is a blowhard and I don't find him interesting, so I choose to not listen to him. Wish more people would do the same and not push to have people fired for what they said.

Sounds like he did do his homework from the quote below. I agree its an outdated and terrible take given what we know about mental health in 2020, but he shouldn't be fired. That creates a very bad precedent.

"The only Dak depression I discussed on the show was from an interview he taped with Graham Bensinger. Dak said that depression hit soon after the pandemic hit, right after the quarantine. I said [Thursday] that if Dak needed help for pandemic depression, he should have sought it then

I agree completely. Im not a huge fan and don't watch the show. I'll occasionally catch a YouTube clip but thats about it. If enough people want him gone just turn the channel and he will be gone. I just don't think a network should fire him over a genuine opinion that he was asked about.

Thats not what he said. He said it made dak look like a weak leader. Hes dancing around what he really said. Dak has lost his mother to a terrible illness and his brother to suicide. I think maybe Skip should have just kept his mouth shut.

Don't disagree with you. I know this is an emotional issue for many...i don't agree with skip on the subject, but i don't believe that means the man should be fired. I think thats the wrong move, and does nothing to for mental health issues. Id rather have a real conversation on the subject.

The problem is when you downplay mental health the way he did yesterday, a conversation cant be had. He told millions of people yesterday. Many of whom most likely suffer from depression that talking about it makes you weak. He damn well should be fired. If even one person commits the worst act possible in taking their own life because of what Skip just said on live TV should he be fired then? Or would that be a wrong move? Ive lost a lot of respect for this board the last couple days.

I think your wrong. We are talking about it now. I had a productive chat with a co worker today who fully agreed with skip. I hope to have more of those conversations, as ive actually learned a lot myself. The truth is there are a lot of people out there who think just like skip on the issue and this is an opportunity for progress. Will you change his mind? Probably not....but I'd rather change the minds of thousands of others.

Look man we all have problems and tragedies that have visited us during our lives.
Seems Dak is a sensitive one as if it's not his Mother we're hearing about or his brother now it's his depression.
Let me express my sincerest condolences.
If you watch one episode of the old Star Trek you will understand in its most primitive level what Leaders are made of and the sacrifices that are demanded by them.
Now Dak wants to world to know his troubles whatever it's a free country...is it good for Cowboy business I sincerely believe it is not!

I'm wondering if you would feel the same way if an NFL player that you happened to support took the time to express their feelings of grief or sadness and the depression that they went through due to a tragic event happening in their life. And if your dislike towards Dak is clouding your opinion on him opening up about his depression.
