Erving was easily the most puzzling free agent acquisition this offseason, and we had quite a few of those.
For me it was Ha Ha Clinton Dix.......he was washed up the day he was drafted, IMO.

Surely he can't be as bad as allowing 6 sacks like the game against Atlanta. The dumb coaching staff never made adjustments in the entire game. I'm sure he will play just fine.
I couldn’t give up 6 sacks in a game
By the 3rd one i would be just grabbing his leg when he went by lol

bleacher report should be banned from this sight, they are notorious garbage.

There is truth in that. The Bleacher Report is tabloid level. Leeblair years back freelanced for the Bleacher Report when it was Enquirer level. But from what I had heard even they had the sense to wave bye, bye to him.

4-4 with him stating
11-0 without him

The main catalyst

Go Cowboys!

Almost 3 full games with Matt Moore as QB were all when Erving started.

KC's defensive stats were worse when Erving started, especially average points allowed.

People mention coaching, but Philbin is even more of an issue, with these injuries. The Colts gave up 56 sacks in his last year coaching there. The only reason he is here is because of McCarthy.

Does any team not have a liability when putting in their backup OT? Thats when coaching is supposed to come into play. Not necessarily the coaching of that backup player. Things like play calling and personnel grouping come into play. Garrett wouldn't change anything in that situation. He would just leave the player on an island and let him give up 6 sacks and ruin the game. A good coach would run more plays away from that side and put a TE or another OL out there at TE to help.
The Cowboys actually got better when their Swing Tackle started 7 games in 2014.

OL coach had already tried to make the backup into the starter but Garrett said no...

Lmao you’ll be hard pressed to find any analyst who says Cam Erving is good. Somehow he always has a job and plays though so it is what it is. I also think Knight will play, personally I think they’re being coy with the depth chart.
Starting to get Alex Barron flashbacks!
:omg:

I reviewed him in all 8 starts from last season.

He was better at LT than when the Cowboys tried Doug Free at LT.

Most Swing Tackles play better at RT than at LT; although that is not true 100% of the time.

I expect a Doug Free type performance and not the final year 9 sacks Doug Free.

I got over the quick flash of anger at Jackie Smith. I quickly realized he wanted desperately to catch that pass, so the anger at him quickly turned to frustration. If you listened to Smith's HOF speech it seemed that play has haunted him since,
Sorry, he’s my most-despised Cowboy ever for dropping that wide open sure ****** TD pass. I’ll never forgive him. Ever.

you mean replacing a pro bowl caliber tackle with a crappy swing tackle is a liability?

SHOCKER! seriously...where do these guys come up with this dribble.
No **** seriously. What do you call an article that’s below “click bait”?

I'm fervently hoping for the Cowboys to deploy a decently-blocking TE, to enhance Cam Erving's chances of success!

If his IS struggling I expect the coaches to actually do something about it this time.

This is the same Cam Erving who forced an injection of not only himself but our very own David Irving just when the game had just started between the Cowboys and the Browns 3 years ago.

Cool, that's reassuring. Thank you for that info.

Meh, he won a Super Bowl protecting Mahomes blind side, it’s up to the coaches to adapt to his deficiencies. Garrett will have to do it with an entire O line this year and it will be evident how bad they are in their first game vs Pitt.
Good thing we have the best pass blocking RB in the NFL in Zeke, to help him out. Whew!!!!!

Well, Collins was one of the better RT's in football last year, anyone would be a liability compared to him.
