State of the team: They’re just not good

All the media and fanboys want you to believe that you can win with 3 really good WRs and good DEs.

This is not a 7 on 7 league and it’s not madden.

Losing LVE and Jarwin combined with no Collins for now means if you go by position group and grade them:

QB - A-
RB - A
WR - A
TE - D
OL - C
DE - A-
DT - B
LB - D
CB - B
S - D

No team has all A’s across the board but the positions Dallas is bad at, they’re REALLY bad at. There are way too many holes on this team for it to be a contender right now. No Collins kills the offense and terrible LBs means teams can take the middle of the field all day.

When they got the Rams in 3rd and long the DEs had success. But when you don’t have good LBs it’s hard to get them in 3rd and long consistently.

Hopefully the team can stay around 500 til later in the year if LVE and Collins get fully healthy. Jaylon is not good for anything except 3rd and long when they can use him as a missile into the OL like they did on the sack to free up Thomas.

Not sure how you give an A @ QB when Dak was what 1/7 on 3rd down conversions and was behind on the Lamb throw on 4th down. Or is those grades as a team and not for last nights game?

Those are for what the talent is at each position for the team.

For years, our Wrs are never running wide open, always tightly covered and challenged. On the other hand, the opponents Wrs, are running wide open and rarely challenged. I was really disappointed that Mac kept the same offense, the same crappy principles that Garrett used for all those wasted years.

I hope Mac takes over play calling, and starts installing a different offense.

This is what was the most disappointing to me...

Do we win that game with Byron Jones?

No.

We needed a coach that has the team prepared for where the ball was going.

Our issues came from confusion..

They had us running sideline to sideline and then when they had us in that mentality they ran it straight at us with some type of added motion that went sideways.

It was almost identical to our playoff loss.

It was definitely a lackluster effort on the defensive side of the ball. Offense as usual left a lot of plays on the field.

You can’t judge an entire season on one game. Yes, we played poorly in several areas. Especially on defense. When you give up 6 yards per play, you’re going to lose.

If anyone is shocked that our defense isn’t great, they were drinking some strong blue koolaide.

Hey, it’s one game. Let’s see what happens over more than one game before slamming down the panic button.

Jared Goff averaged 2 seconds to get the ball off. That negates a passrush.
that is a good point, This is what kellen should be aware of but I guess he isnt, neither is dak or MM lol.
you cant have guys all running deep 5 sec routes, when you only have 3 seconds to get the ball out.

rams killed dallas with short quick passes, runs, and a quick no huddle tempo.
Somebody needs to explain this to our brilliant coaches.

As disappointed as I am with the coaching, I am not ready to call it a failure of same ole same ole. Garret created a culture on this team that he has cultivated forthe past 10 years. It will take more than one preseason and 1 game to change that culture. However, if our don't do something different to make the team aware this is a new regime and things are gonna be different, the culture wl be slow to change if changes at all. I will also acknowledge that Covid during a coaching change altered the ability to implement significant changes.

We are always overhyped. Last year we literally beat 3 dumpster fires to start the year and it was like we were the best team ever. Maybe this team turns out good this year, but they are always overhyped.

I thought the defense finished strong. I thought they were hitting hard late. It was just frustrating how they started the first two and a half quarters. I just hate when guys are wide open. It has happened for years. Maybe it is talent, scheme, bad preparation or a combo. Those type of easy throws give the mediocre QB's confidence and it just kills you against the very good qbs. I have bad feelings what teams with elite tight ends and running backs who can catch will do to us all year.

We'll be seeing this every week really. As long as we go up early, we will be fine. If not, we will be in dogfights every week. 1-6 in close games last year. 0-1 this year so far. Still, allowing 20 points only could be as good as it gets this year. I can't see us allowing under 14 points any given week.

Season not over but let’s be realistic about what it takes to win games. More than just flashy WRs. The injuries are a real problem at critical areas.
Yup. La'el Collins should be getting blasted more here. They should fine his *** for coming into camp out of shape. I do think he could have been the different between a loss and a win yesterday.

We are what our record is.

We continue to struggle against winning record teams.

While we have some talent at key positions our weaknesses continue to hurt us. And better teams exploit those weaknesses.

You’ll never get this point across.. I’ve tried for years.
LOL seriously. People see our QB getting pressured don't understand we are running long developing plays. Then they complain for running short passes and not going long. Can't satisfy anyone. Backup Tight end dropped balls. Amari dropped a crucial ball. We stepped off the gas after going up by 1 point.
