DC talking heads on Cowboy's website seemed to be calling out Dak

Here are some statistical facts.

This is a year by year record since 2016 (Dak led Cowboys) that shows how Dallas did against teams when TRAILING at the half:

2016

2 Wins 1 Loss

2017

0 Wins 3 Losses

2018

1 Win 4 Losses

2019

0 Wins 8 Losses

2020

N/A

Total Record of Dak led Dallas Cowboys from 2016-2020 when TRAILING at the half:

3 Wins 16 Losses

Now you can say all you want that it's a team win or team loss and while that may be true, the stats show that for some reason with Dak as the starting QB Dallas simply does not come back in the 2nd half to win when trailing at the half.

Wow
That’s worse than I thought

Let me help you understand since you are having a hard time.

Just because you make a couple of bad contracts and overpay some of your players doesnt mean you just do it with all of your players, especially the QB.

Dak wants to be the highest paid QB in the league, so the question is should the highest paid QB in the league not lose virtually every close game he plays?

Also, should the highest paid QB in the league be able to bring his team from behind and win? Well Dak's career record when trailing at halftime is 3-16.

So are you following along yet? Basically should you pay a QB that cant bring his team from behind and cant win close games, at least not in recent times, more money than any other QB in the league?
No Dak only wanted 35 mil and would have accepted a 5 year contract as long as he was guaranteed not to be franchised.

But this conversation is not about his contract. It's about losing close games. Dak in this game performed well and made some clutch throws. The problem was a bad call IMO and 3 drop balls on 3rd down that would have continued drives which is a fact.

My point that you just responded to is why are players that are not performing not being held accountable? Dak did perform well in this game. Zeke performed well. Amari performed well. DLaw did not....again. Along with the OL. The coaches seemed not to be prepared. Our kicker did not.

Where does Dak rank among clutch QB's since he came into the NFL. You did a lot of research to make your own argument.

Who is not being held accountable? Did you miss the "trade Dlaw" and "Fire McCarthy" threads?

I disagree that this doesnt have anything to do with his contract because his play this year will determine if he gets paid next year. Like Steven Jones said today, "Dak is betting on himself".

So, Dak has 15 more games to prove he is worth what he is asking for. If we win 10 or 11 games and make the playoffs and he plays well, he will get paid. If we end up with 7 or 8 wins and miss the playoffs and he struggles, odds are he will not get paid, at least not here.

Go Cowboys

Jesse Holly said , "If you want to get paid like Rogers, Mahomes, Wilson, Brees, ect....then you need to be spectacular on Sundays, not just "well he played ok". Holly said that when there is 45 seconds left on the clock and Rogers gets the ball down 4, the other team is terrified. There is a "belief he will get it done as opposed to a hope he will get it done". You do not have that with Dak.

Nick Eatman basically said Dak is not clutch, he doesnt bring the team back to win games and the stats prove it. In the Cowboys last 8 games decided by one score, the Cowboys are 1-7. Dak getting the ball back with a minuet or two and driving the team down the field for the winning score does not happen and he said he was actually getting concerned about it.

Spags, usually Mr. Sunshine, was surprisingly critical today as well. Mentioned the same 1-7 record and said they just cant win close games. He didnt really single out Dak specifically like the others, but you get what he was saying without actually saying it.

Now do I blame Dak for the loss? No, he played ok but he was not spectacular just like Holly said. Now like Eatman said, the stats do show that Dak does not win close games for whatever reason. Blame it on dropped passes, blame on poor protection, blame it on the refs with bad calls, blame it on whatever but the fact still remains the Cowboys have lost 7 of their last 8 games when the winning margin was within one score. Dak was the QB in all those games, so the question seems legit of "why cant he win close games, especially if you want to be one of the highest paid QBs in the league.

Dak drove the team down for the tie FG and MM decided to go for it. Stupid...........game should have been tied 20-20.

Dak on the game winning drive in the most clutch moment throws a perfect bomb right into Gallups hands down at 10 yard line to win the game. Worst PI call I have ever seen. Cowboys either win 23-20 or 27-20. But thats just life in the NFL.

Teams win games, not QB's.

Dak beat Wilson already in the playoffs and last year all these same guys were talking about Rogers being washed up.

But on 3rd down there were 3 drops in this game. This is either true or its now. There is no need to over analyze a fact. Which you are doing and even refusing to acknowledge the fact.
Why a drop happens is often subjective. There are obviously clear bad drops (Drew Lock to Jerry Jeudy last night in the third quarter is about as clear as an example as you will see) and there are very difficult catches deemed to be drops because the receiver was not in the correct position or the throw was inaccurate. You also have to question why catches are dropped when it's the same QB and several different receivers. Is it on the QB or is in on all of the receivers? E.g. receivers might not have confidence in where the ball should be placed so they end up in the wrong position trying to give themselves a greater catch radius. Drops are not unconditional - there's often much more to it.

Did you miss the title of thread bro?

All the podcasts today were talking about this, Eagleton, Eatman, Helmean, Garcia, Holly, ect....

We were discussing in this thread the points those guys were talking about today. They were discussing Dak and his inability, at least in recent times, to win close games. So everybody in this thread was discussing the points they were making and if they were legit points or not.

That is why we are talking about Dak, because that is who the podcasts were talking about today. You seem to be the only person in this thread that is confused.

That is startling to see.

I am in the crowd that doesn't believe a QB should have a Win/Loss record (only the HC, GM and franchise should have a record IMHO) but man! Garrett and his staff share the blame with the QB and the team as a whole and now McCarthy is in on it. But, that doesn't look good for any QB. To be deemed a frontrunner in any sport is never a positive.

Down 3 with Over 2 minutes left in the game with a timeout and the 2-minute warning at his disposal, this fool couldnt even get us past mid field :facepalm:

And I dont wanna hear about the pass to Gallup. The GOAT (Randy Moss) even admitted that was OPI.
You should hear about it. Dak made the throw. He got the team into the red zone.

I don't care if it was OPI, by definition. You don't call that garbage. You know that, it just doesn't fit your position on Dak.

Moss and Johnson say with out a doubt it was OPI I will go with them. You have to stop the homer view on everything. I bet that hit to the head no call on Goff was correct too. All the excuses, when when will they end.

Yea but we saw the game. Clearly these drops were catchable passes.

They do have point. I like Dak but he is 1-8 in close games and you have to win those games if you going to be paid like an elite qb.

Nick's point is valid. 1-7 over last 8 one score games is obviously poor. However, we're having a different conversation if we don't get jobbed by the refs on that OPI call on Gallup. Should have been 50 yards potentially leading to a game winning TD. But yes, in the broader picture, we have to start winning these close games if the QB expects to get paid like a top 5 QB. No question....
Flip side to that coin is the "interception" that Goff threw should have been a penalty against us. We were 6 points down at that point with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. That would have taken them up to around midfield with every chance for at least 3 points. So the rest of the game would have likely played out very differently. We can't just raise one questionable call when another which was even clearer and irrefutable should have gone against us at another big moment.

In games like Sunday night, where the offense or Cowboys didnt get it done in the end, I tell myself I am not going to defend Prescott this week. I think he had a solid game, but at some point we need to win these games regardless.

Then the morons come on and that all goes out the window.

The offense tied the game and would have won the game, but MM and the refs took it away from them.

In close games these are the type of things that matter. We got out coached on both sides of the ball again. The defense was terrible. Those are the bigger issues yesterday.
