When the LBers and Dlaw were beasting we had one of the best defenses in the league. We are paying Dlaw and Smith to cover up a lot of holes. The problem is they are no longer playing at the elite levels they were and LVE has been exposed.
You can't have holes on both lines and expect to win. This team hasn't been the same since Dlaw got hurt. He was playing at such a high level and like the best player in the league on defense.

No, No, No, it was thier first game in this defense. I think there was tooooo much rotation on DL and many people just simply play good fundemental football.

The defense gave up 20 points on Sunday. That’s respectable. They’re not the problem. The problem was the lack of adjustments by the coaches and the conservative nature of the offense.

The Rams came in with a fairly simple game plan; get the ball out of Goff’s hands quickly. That’s what they did. There’s no shame in getting exposed in the first half; the problem is that they did nothing to adjust in the second.

The Cowboys only threw the ball on 41% of first downs. That’s even more conservative than Garrett. They almost never tried to throw deep.

maybe we need to get better players in those holes so DLaw and Jaylon can just handle their own business.

i was very disappointed in Dontari Poe's performance.
another 2 or 3 like that and i say lets get a look at Neville Gallimore.
i'm VERY concerned about LVE and the stack of injuries...and he wasn't havin' a good game before he got hurt.
im alone on this but i still like Jaylon...i have much respect for how he came back from that injury.
he over-runs plays like most young LBs.
i think the more experienced he gets...the better that area of his game will be.
im a Jaylon fan...love that dude.
over-all...we need better players around DLaw,Aldon,Griffen,Jaylon,Woods and Diggs.
better in the trenches.
another good young LB to put with Jaylon and hopefully LVE.
and we need better people in the secondary.

It’s the secondary none of those wussies want to come up and tackle. Go watch Good defenses play. Their safeties and CB’s come up and rock ball carriers. Awuzie, Brown, woods are soft and Thompson just sucks. Hoping Lewis and Diggs are both starting ASAP because we need that dawg on Def.

Dlaw was getting one or two sacks a game and we were winning. Now we are losing TOP and its not the same defense. This team isn't the same when Dlaw and the lbers aren't up to par.

Problem is lots of guys sucked or were out.

Sucked - Jaylon, Poe, Crawford, Griffen, but he was forced into playing 3T generally, not just on clear pass rush downs.
LVE - Sucked, then out
Lee - out

We're hurting right up the middle of the box. No help coming either.

1st 3 games of last year the big difference was throwing 70% on first downs.

I thought McCarthy was bringing analytics to the Cowboys. So sad. We just can't do what's staring us in the face.

I remember the talk that Jaylon and LVE would be an elite pair of LBs for years to come.

Good times.

The culture is dysfunctional.

It's not about winning in Dallas because you dont need to.

Ita about getting a second contract and endorsements.

They learn from Jerry that you dont need to win to get paid.

Mike McCarthy isnt going to be able to change that within the guys that have been here and only know the Garrett and Jerry show.

I realized that only this week and its awful.

Dont believe it? You'll see.

No, No, No, it was thier first game in this defense. I think there was tooooo much rotation on DL and many people just simply play good fundemental football.

- Waay too much damn rotation. Going more on a play by play basis,.. instead of series by series basis.
And this was supposed a defense led by reputedly one of the better DL coaches in Jim Tomsula, and a DC that was supposed be
one of the better defensive minds in Nolan.

Seems like they are going the Rob Ryan way in trying to be so exotic and creative that they are out-thinking themselves.
i know those vet players had to be questioning this system among themselves afterwards.

Some players need to get into continuous grind mode first to gain a focus and rhythm,.. instead of this musical tune chairs.

- and why was Crawford in on goal line defense instead of a healthy Dontario Poe ? isn't that why we signed Poe to be a immovable run stopper ?
Frankly i saw on a handful of plays all game from Poe, and he like most of our DTs, wasnt' particularly good.

- and then comes a poorly instinctive LB who still gets to make the signal calls but yet he's the main one that is constantly out of position,
constantly suckered and fooled by misdirection, screen passes, still running around blocks and cannot cut thru traffic, and has coverage issues.
LVE tends to get suckered by misdirection as well, but is far a superior coverage guy than Jay, but whereas Smith has been a stone of durability
since he was red shirted in 2016, LVE has been a Sean Lee like train wreck of injuries, and now his durability has to be questioned.

Yes it is. The Rams we running a new offense no one has seen before.

If the Cowboys played them in week 4 or 6 we would have seen a different game than Sunday night.

They hardly had time for routes to develop

LVE is close to being done for good. He is risking his long term functionality as a human by playing. Absolutely can not trust him to stay on the field and even when he is out there, he isn't good. No idea how to read plays and is out of position. 2018 was a mirage for him and Jaylon. They were exposed by the Rams in the playoff game and never have been the same. Teams know how to attack them all game long.
