You know what feelings missing the two point conversion brings? It makes me feel, man we really need a stop here. Man, we better score as quickly as we can so we get a chance to get the ball back. If I'm atl, I'm thinking, whoo, we got this now!

Those are the feeling I got when we missed the conversion. What feelings do you think the players and coaches got? And how does that compare to what actually happened?
Feelings are subjective. I would think that making decisions that give the team the best chance to win would feel pretty good. Teams don't collapse every time they fail to make a 3rd down play. The 2 point try wasn't successful, but they put themselves in the best position possible to recover from it.

I'd rather just chat.

Not really.

*at least

But they almost did if not for that bungled onside kick.

I made a similar point earlier in the thread. Missing that 2 pointer actually worked in their favor because ATL went conservative offensively being up 2 scores.

See above

My point is that the clock management argument shouldn't matter. I think you'd be foolish to prioritize chewing the clock over getting the necessary points to tie.
Yeah, I knew it was too much to think that you really understood what was being discussed. I stopped when you disagreed that missing the two point conversion made the path to victory clear. Can't even have a discussion when people don't get the simplest of concepts.

Quarterback sneak.

Speaking of which, I was wondering what the teams from the 30's, etc would think of these plays where the offensive player doesn't make the end zone, and sticks just the ball out for a fraction of a second to "break the plane" to score a td. I don't like it myself, seems chintzy, you ought to only get a score if you can get at least some of your body in the end zone.

Again, that's just me...

Hands are body parts.

I wouldn’t even care about this call if we didn’t already see complete failures on 2 fake punts and a 4th down conversion in 2 games. Coaching hasn’t been smart. And these calls will kill them more often than not. I’m all for showing confidence, but you also have to know when to take the points and play field position. They got lucky this time..
I’m a bit miffed at some decisions
I get being aggressive but football is not a math problem
Math is consistent while football is not
I didn’t mind the fake punt pass
If you run that 5 times and have a wide open receiver you probably convert it the majority of times
A 5 yard run up the middle though requires a total failure of the opponent
I think that fails 4 or 5 times
I didn’t like going for 2 there because the kick makes it a one procession game
The odds of getting two processions in that time against that opponent that day are slim
It worked out but mostly because a very low percentage play, the onside kick, worked

We don't know, nor do we now the actual affect and their impact on the game. But those are reasons why some may be passionate about taking the other option and they are very real things to account for. If they weren't, we'd just hire a head babysitter and leave game decisions to number crunchers.

Yeah, I knew it was too much to think that you really understood what was being discussed.

You just want to argue with someone. Next time pick someone who disagrees with you.

I stopped when you disagreed that missing the two point conversion made the path to victory clear.

Making it makes the path to victory just as clear, too. That's a meaningless point.

Can't even have a discussion when people don't get the simplest of concepts.

Your loss.

You're talking to one of the most intelligent posters I've ever met or communicated with. His disagreeing with our opinion doesn't change that.

It makes it a one possession game assuming that you can make a 2 point conversion on the next TD. I don't understand why this part seems to be missing from the conversation. There is no scenario where we don't have to make 2 point conversion.

Here is a question, though I know you didn’t mean it this way. Do you WANT more pressure on Atl? Or would you prefer for them to be more relaxed knowing that they’re up two scores, thus making it easier for you to score that second TD?
I thought he should have kicked the extra point. I think having an 8pt lead would have put more pressure on ATL versus a 9 point lead. But in the end if you don't get the 2pt conversion you're still kicking an onside kick.
