It's, a, process...mayneWho would’ve thought that shortening the passing game would help against the pass rush?
I wonder if Garrett has learned that yet or if he’s still processing.

Doesn't matter since he can't computeWho would’ve thought that shortening the passing game would help against the pass rush?

Princeton analytics without a supercomputer is hard bro. It takes time.Who would’ve thought that shortening the passing game would help against the pass rush?

that all makes good sense. mcgovern has a good pedigree having played at penn state. maybe just needs a little more time to get the hang of things.Don’t forget that McGovern was drafted by the previous regime that ran much more of a man-blocking scheme. McCarthy and Philbin run a pure zone-blocking scheme (which I much prefer) like Bill Callahan did. The nimble, movement linemen will be better for that scheme.
When McGovern was drafted they talked about how he already had NFL power, which fans liked because Williams had been over-powered a few times. It was assumed then that McGovern would eventually overtake Williams at LG.
Williams however, has much better movement skills, which Philbin is going to covet for his zone scheme, and I knew that would give him a leg up in the competition. The same goes for Looney, who can really move well. Both are made for Philbin’s Zone scheme. They fit like gloves.
That’s not to say that McGovern can’t succeed in a zone-blocking scheme but he simply can’t move like Williams and Looney can, which is going to hurt McGovern’s chances IMO.
Anyway, I still have hopes for McG... but Williams is playing well in this scheme. Like x-walker said, he simply doesn’t need to be replaced because he’s been good, and will only get better as the line gels.
I’ve been wanting the Cowboys to go back to this blocking scheme ever since Bill Callahan left. This scheme is what helped make the Dallas OL become the best in football in 2014 and, IMO, is much more difficult for defenses to deal with. It was one of the biggest things that excited me about McCarthy coming to Dallas.
Once they play a few games together, say by mid season, this OL will start to gel and get used to Philbin’s scheme... and they are going to become very dangerous again. Elliott is going to have a good season IMO.
Letting it go is a process
Garrett earned it with all the heartburn he caused with the Dallas fanbase!
Wish I could agree. The Seahags don't have any legit edge rushers so Philbin should have another week of being worshipped as the greatest OL coach of all-time!!!

Excellent thread topic.
Yes, there are obvious signs of good coaching on the OLine this season.
LOL. You really want to die on that hill dont you?

I certainly agree. However, Dak will shred their D as well.Wish I could agree.
This team is about to get an *** whoopin of epic proportions.
I like certain facets of this team, but this defense is about to get totally exposed.
Wilson will shred this D.
That is the impact and you identified well,, its the running game of Zeke that opens up everything that Dak can do.I certainly agree. However, Dak will shred their D as well.
I think sometimes fans forget when there is a QB showdown that the opposing QB doesn't play defense. Seattles D is actually worse than the Falcons with worse pass rushers.
I think the deciding factor in the game even with the big numbers that both QB's put up will be Zeke's impact. Seattle will have to respect that he is there and when Zeke runs he will physically dominate.
I re-watched the second half of the Falconds game last night and I was surprised how well LT Knight played. He also had no problem jumping into a pile of players to move it forward. That's something Tyron doesn't bother to do anymore. Might be some future there at LT that doesn't coast a #1 pick.

Jeez I guess some fans can't appreciate sarcasmI don't think anyone is worshiping the coach... it's just an OBVIOUS observation.
Jeez. I guess some so-called fans just do not have the capacity to be happy with an outcome.
Jeez, give him some time. It's not like Tyron didn't have a learning curve.he sets too deep on pass blocking.
He's almost on top of Dak.
Pray that TSmith is back.
