Here’s some perspective that stays with me:
  • Dak Prescott was 2 the last time the Cowboys won a SB, appeared in an NFC championship, or even won a divisional playoff game.
  • Tony Romo was 15.
  • My nearly 37 year old son was in 6th grade.
  • We’ve had 6 head coaches since then.
  • We’ve had one owner/President/GM/socks and jocks sorter and face of the franchise since then.

Yep, several young posters here have neither a Landry or Jimmy Johnson reference point to draw from in their fanhood.
I take that into consideration and context with a multitude of responses.
Lol :)

Go Cowboys

I’m thinking the Rosenberg trial or the Nuremberg trials or even the Manson trial might have been the trial of the 20th century, but we didn’t have CNN then, and CNN knows best ...
all huge trials but OJ is only one that a (guilty) defendant won which put the trial on different plane- it created as much controversy after the trial (can money really buy freedom?, are good lawyers better than the law?, did minorities send a message?)
and I think why it got the title. All were extremely popular but except for OJ ended as predicted. Now if Manson, Himmler were found not guilty. Opposite is also true- If OJ was found guilty trial would have faded away.
Not saying ur wrong or picking 1 trial over other-just my thoughts on why OJ's got that title

It was dubbed by media as the trial of the century even before the verdict, plus I’m pretty confident OJ isn’t the only guilty defendant that was ever acquitted. I think it got the title “trial of the century” because it helped CNN sell sell it’s TV coverage.

It's been 25 years....how pathetic is that? Not to mention we've never made it to an NFC Championship game since then too.

All because, Jerry wasted a decade on the JG experience!
Dont forget Dave Campo ,too , JG wasted a few good years of Romo , Witten etc.

....that is probably a good reason, Jerry is letting MM run the show. You cant get those 10 yrs back of Red Jesus, .. peddle to the meddle with Big Mike.

The Cowboys should have faded into irrelevance but the sheep keep buying tickets and merch.
I’m curious how, if you have given up any interest in the Cowboys, you explain your presence on this site?

My two boys have no sense of Dallas as a winner.

I live in Ohio near Cleveland and they say I sound like a lot of Browns fans, which they both happen to be but they openly acknowledge they have been terrible for two decades without any pause or justification that entails talking about the entirety of Browns history. They just say, “We suck.”. One of my friends, however, who is a huge Browns fan is constantly going on about the championship mettle of the Browns as a franchise while completely ignoring the backdrop of two decades of face palming losing.

They say I sound like him.

Ouch....

Which btw, we HAVE to beat Cleveland next week. Just have to...

I don't buy tickets or merch. And if I had to pay to see the them play on TV I would stop that as well.
I guess you don’t realize people watching on TV also pays the bills for teams.

The reality is you are being self righteous while still watching and supporting the team yourself. The fact some like the live experience and/or wearing a jersey while they support the team doesn’t change that.

Besides, who are you to tell people how to spend their entertainment dollars?

Not a single penny comes out of my pocket to watch the Cowboys.
I don't tell people how to spend their entertainment dollars. I tell them why I don't spend mine.
All I tell them is they are suckers for doing it.

The best song I've ever heard about getting old. Toto's "Alone." This song really hit home when I looked through my high school class of '75 facebook page and saw how many had passed on...

"I woke up Sunday morning
Another twenty years gone by
Pulled myself out of my bed
It's getting harder every time

Grab my phone, but there's no messages at all
Then I realize there's no one left to call

Whoa - Seems like things ain't what they used to be
Whoa - Can't cry anymore
I'm alone
Whoa - Where did everyone go?

I drive to work every morning
And no one looks me in the eye
It feels like love has left the world
And I can't help but wonder why

I had that dream again where I begin to fall
And on the way down, learn the meaning of it all

Whoa - No, things ain't what they used to be
Whoa - Can't cry anymore
I'm alone
Whoa - Where did everyone go?

[Guitar Solo]

I fell asleep last night and woke up in the fall
Turned my head and blinked and now there stands a wall

Whoa - Seems like things ain't what they used to be
Whoa - I can't cry anymore
I'm alone
Whoa - Where did everyone go?
Whoa
Whoa - Where did everyone go?"

If there weren’t fans supporting the team financially, do you think the Cowboys would win a SB sooner?

I’m always curious about this hard stance taken by fans. They are done supporting the team financially in any way and call those that do sheeple, or suckers as you did in one of your posts above, which clearly implies a moral and intellectual context to the stance you’ve taken i.e you’re not supporting Dallas financially and those that do are stupid while also not being morally aware enough to know they are being taken advantage of thereby facilitating the con job for other people to be defrauded.

Just curious...

If all the sheeple took your stance, would it improve the franchises hopes for a SB and fielding consistent SB-caliber teams?
