Our future is not bright

We have spent so much money on runningbacks and WR's and now our foundation is falling apart and the Dak bill is due.

I just don't see how we are going to overcome Dak's contract and somehow quickly improve this team. It's going to take years.

Jaylon Smith? Terrible contract

Lawrence? Terrible contract

LVE? Not reliable

Once Dak is signed the only way to improve this team is with rookies and we've been basically doing that since he has got here and we have nothing to show for it.

I wish Dallas wasn't so in love with their QB. I wish they would look to the draft and save themselves from locking us down into mediocrity.

We've lost almost all hope for doing anything this season and the Cowboys only redeeming quality is that our division is so bad.

McCarthy looks like the fraud I said he was. I still have hope but I hated this hire.

It's just bad and we desperately need to add a transcendent player or coach to this staff to even give us a chance to overcome all of this.

Dak, like Romo, just can't overcome all of our problems and paying them all that money just makes them insanely rich and the Cowboys insanely average.

Someone please give me a shred of optimism for this teams future....

What you dont seem to understand. Still. Which is amazing in itself. Is that this front office does not freaking care about the defense. At all. They didnt put a good defense around Dak when he was making 420k. You can blame Dak all you want about wanting the money he is OWED. But you cant say if we dont pay him we are going to build a defense. We wont.

Dak has arguably been our best player - even though I'm not a fan of Dak.

What would our season look like presently with a rookie QB? Not much different

Crazy scenario from both sides

Biggest LOL is you think they can quickly improve this team.

Jones x2 used to blow money in FA on flashy duds and blow the draft with Jerry spinning a wheel.
Now they ignore Free agency, and pray to the football gods they draft well to improve this team.

I see no signs of change in how they operate. So, even if they let Dak walk or trade him, they won't turn around and sign a top safety(or even draft one). They'll just re-sign another "core" guy to a huge deal and be dumbfounded when he sucks.

I agree. But it should not be that way. Good football people could turn this ship around with 2 good offseason. We blew last off-season bargain hunting. How different would the D be with Quinn and B. Jones? and adding A Smith. It would be nowhere near this bad. I can guarantee that the next DC will be picked by the Jones. They let MM pick his staff and he brought us Nolan and "bones" (both should be fired)...what a fraud MM.

I still think Urban Meyer Is a option as HC after this season... a zeke and urban reunion may be something to have hopes about. I agree McCarthy is a fraud and I never bought in. His first presser didn’t help...and the rest is history.

You've answered your own question or dilemma. The team has/had two QBs good enough to win but the team has continued to have significant issues preventing the team becoming a true contender. So whether it's Romo, Dak or QB "xyz", as long as the Jones clowns are running the show, what we've seen is what we'll always get.

It's not as dire as all that.

You act like a team cannot sign any FA after they pay tier QB--its simply not true.

Better drafting, signing key FA pieces, & a complete off-season (maybe a DC change) and we're back on track.

I can't with this team.

Things have gotten so bad that we are celebrating stats that are mostly created because of how crumby the game unfolded for us.

Our offense always starts slow.. I'm trying to think of the last time the Cowboys offense started quick...

Honestly I agree with what you have written here except for the McCarthy line, he may be a fraud or he may not, it’s hard to tell anything when you have inherited this mess of a team, it’s like Chan Gailley gave him a team full of aging guys and the fire him when the team can’t compete, McCarthy didn’t make Jerry hand out these bad contracts - Jerry did that all by himself

Oh here is something I heard on the Radio yesterday.

Broaddus said last year when the linebackers coach, Bloom, was gone for a couple weeks last year due to "sickness" he was really suspended by the team for being critical of Jaylon Smith's play.

That feel good Jaylon Smith story doesn't feel so good anymore and the fact that he feels entitled just makes things worse.

The culture is screwed...

The roster is screwed..

Our cap is screwed..

This is a mentally soft football team that has fallen victim to being millionaire Dallas Cowboy rockstars and it shows up on the field.

Yeah.. They'll come out this week and beat up on the crappy Giants and some of you will start pom pom'ing again but who cares.. I want to compete for championships and that hope is already gone for this season.

The best thing that could happen to this team is to finish with 1 win.

McCarthy inherited a playoff ready team. And then made decisions in off season ( or somebody did) which let 4 defensive starters walk while signing our WR1 then using our top draft pick on another WR.

Id argue we poorly reinvested in our roster which has contributed to our awkwardly imbalance between offense and defense not to mention the coaching changes which haven’t helped.

you ain’t signing squat if you hand a mediocre QB 40 million a year. The guy is worth no more than 25 million regardless of what he thinks he is worth, He is no more talented than Kurt Cousins and you think the DLaw contract is bad just wait until you start to see what Dak becomes when he doesn’t have the luxury of that offensive line or those receivers to throw to,

Well it was 14-7 and we were driving and Steele killed that. The next series Zeke took his longest run of the year to the 50 and fighting to get extra yards lost another one. We started well but we can’t fumble the damn ball. We should have been up 28-14
