McCarthy inherited a playoff ready team. And then made decisions in off season ( or somebody did) which let 4 defensive starters walk while signing our WR1 then using our top draft pick on another WR.

Id argue we poorly reinvested in our roster which has contributed to our awkwardly imbalance between offense and defense not to mention the coaching changes which haven’t helped.

Was that McCarthy or Jerry? Last I looked Jerry was the one who purchased the groceries.

It's not as dire as all that.

You act like a team cannot sign any FA after they pay tier QB--its simply not true.

Better drafting, signing key FA pieces, & a complete off-season (maybe a DC change) and we're back on track.

They don't sign guys when they have opportunities to.

They draft.

The problem is that strategy does not work for us. Rinse and repeat every year thinking rookies are going to fix our problems.. They never do.

Things have gotten so bad that we are celebrating stats that are mostly created because of how crumby the game unfolded for us.

Problem is Jerry has never, and will never, follow that scenario. Hasn't a clue what FAs to sign, gets maybe one good draft pick per year and wouldn't know a good DC if he stumbled over him on the street....

thats why we can not sign Dak to a Mahones type deal

But we will and it's so frustrating because it elbow drops this teams future.

I wish they would go get Stafford as a bridge to someone else or just let the thing burn down for a year.

We need a redo on cheap QB play becauswe paying Mahomes prices for Dak is not what's up.

Cant make THIS many mistakes and still expect to win.

This cycle will need to correct itself in time. Probably three years. At that point they can start over.

Who has confidence they will nail it next time?

This team is doomed for a very long while and I dont know that it will ever end.

We have spent so much money on runningbacks and WR's and now our foundation is falling apart and the Dak bill is due.

I just don't see how we are going to overcome Dak's contract and somehow quickly improve this team. It's going to take years.

Jaylon Smith? Terrible contract

Lawrence? Terrible contract

LVE? Not reliable



Once Dak is signed the only way to improve this team is with rookies and we've been basically doing that since he has got here and we have nothing to show for it.

I wish Dallas wasn't so in love with their QB. I wish they would look to the draft and save themselves from locking us down into mediocrity.

We've lost almost all hope for doing anything this season and the Cowboys only redeeming quality is that our division is so bad.

McCarthy looks like the fraud I said he was. I still have hope but I hated this hire.

It's just bad and we desperately need to add a transcendent player or coach to this staff to even give us a chance to overcome all of this.

Dak, like Romo, just can't overcome all of our problems and paying them all that money just makes them insanely rich and the Cowboys insanely average.



Someone please give me a shred of optimism for this teams future....

Sorry, but there just isn't any ray of sunshine at the end of the dark tunnel we are just entering. Looks like lots more years of futile efforts by overrated players getting paid top dollar. McCarthy was a loser in GB and looks like he parleyed that into a job at loserville, Texas.

His money that he wants screws us.. Thats the problem.

We are 1-3 with him. He's not that kind of QB to overcome.

He starts slow and pads stats after things have gotten optimal.


Not to mention.. Jaylon Smith is screwing us.

La'el Collins is screwing us.

Amari Cooper is soft and won't finish routes..

Demarcus Lawrence is a fraud.

Tyron Smith is out every other week.

Zeke is not worth 15 mill a year to our team. We would be 1-3 without him.

We wasted the great OL/young Zeke/cheap Dak window. A lot of us have been saying this for the last few years. You could see it coming from a mile away..

All we need to do is get lucky and draft war daddy. We have enough picks next draft to bring in some linebackers and secondary help. I just hope we have the coaches to develop the players. I actually see potential in Steele. He is not there yet but he has good feet and athletic. I would have Knight as the left guard next year.

I understand but I know I read in this forum during the off-season that this team with a proven winning HC was now making better decisions in the draft and FA due to MCArthy.
