It's much easier to find QB's now days.

We found Dak in the 4th round.

We're about to witness minimal drop off with what many said was one of the worst QB's in the league in Dalton.

Dalton is going to get Dak like results. Is he is good as Dak? No.. But Dak isn't 37 million dollars a year better.

We'll see. I'm dubious that Dalton will be able to out up 40 points next week to keep up with Arizona. We'll see, though.

Someone on another thread mentioned that Dak had a large insurance policy against serious injury - $100m?

When does the insurance payout become a factor in all this?

If you are Dak, isnt the safest option to collect?

I think it depends on what the terms are. It's called a loss-of-value policy. One example I read about is where a player had a policy that he could collect if his 2nd contract wasn't worth at least $20 million dollars. His contract was for $1.5 million and he was able to collect $3 million from the insurance.

Not sure what is in Dak's or what criteria needs to be met, but I would be very surprised if he didn't have one.

Keyshawn says it only pays out if he never plays again, which is unlikely.

Either dak gets his 3-4 yr deal or he plays elsewhere. No way he gets franchised again. Because he definitely will sit out.

Guarantee colts will give him everything. Maybe even the pats.

If Dak isn't 100% before game 1 next year, contract negotiations are going to be very interesting, with much higher stakes on both sides.

The claim is that Dak's entire objection to what was offered to him by the Cowboys rested on the 1 extra year which is insane given that we are just talking about one additional season. He would have still gotten a shot at another contract that came after the new TV deal. He really needs to fire his agent.

now it's to late.

He made about $35 million his first four years in salary and endorsements.

He's making $32 million this year. Plus endorsements

He'll get tagged for $38 million next year. Plus endorsements.

That's more $110 million in six years.

He's fine.

Dak isn't going to sit out with a $38 million tag.

That's almost $2.5 million per game.

Not a chance.

Dak is not worth 40 million. Those 2 throws to Gallup Dak does not make. Sign dalton and draft a youngster

Today is a difficult day to deal with the smart realities of millions of dollars in salary cap money, its clear Dak is the psychological heart of this team.

We all should remember that:
1.)Dak is set for life,31 million is grandchildren-mansion money,not a living wage.
2.) Thanks to Jerry and the Cowboy corporate money machine Dak has 10s of millions in endorsement money already under contract or in the bank.Let's stop all the pity-party stuff for our 50 million dollar QB.
3.)8-8 & no playoffs(and failed offense against N.E. and Philly2) was an eye-opener last year. The off season negotiation should have been total disappointment to all Cowboy fans.If Dak and his agent don't want to QB my team for 5 more years and insist on a contract exceeding that of Brady,Brees,Wilson,Mahomes,Rogers(all SB and playoff successful QBs) then he's no Roger Staubach(or Aikman) and that should be our standard.Dak deserves #8-9-10-11 best money among QBs,or we will be devastating our salary cap...
4.)We need 2 safeties,two-three OLs to compete for a Superbowl,We're mission both tackles and a first round LB right now.
5.) If we can go 8-8 with Dalton, sign him for 16 million next year and buy us some defense,

If there's a way to trade Dak for a number 1 or more, trade him to a contender in the AFC(Pitt,NE,) and rebuild our team we can't afford a 40 million $ QB and have a defense and Tackles & Guards that can block.

Jaylon Smith had an insurance policy too. Something where he would get the payout if he didn't get taken in the first round.

Former Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith took out an insurance policy in the fall that would pay him $5 million if he got hurt and could never play again or up to $5 million if he got hurt and slipped in the 2016 NFL draft.

A source with knowledge of the policy said Smith will receive $700,000 if he falls out of the first round and gets picked as the top pick in the second round. If he doesn't, he'll collect an additional $100,000 for each spot he falls.

Smith would set a loss-of-value record of $3.1 million if he fell to the 55th overall pick.

I really think it was his agent that held him back.
Not that he couldn't have overridden him.

But yes, he got a huge and generous offer but he and his agent turned it down.

He'll be fine long term, but I agree.

On a side note...he's getting 31 million for playing 5 games this year.
I plan to see him playing QB for Dallas next season.

He wanted a year deal in the neighborhood (or very slightly above) what Goff and Wentz got. Was that really so unreasonable?

What if Dalton comes in and is just as good.

Does Dak still get all the money?

If this year has shown me anything it’s that this team is far away from being a contender and paying a QB 40 million that isn’t elite would not be a great move for us.

Honestly, I don't think that there is much of a drop off from Dak to Dalton; they're the same tier to me. What makes Dak more valuable would be he is younger.
