if i were an NFL team in need of a QB...i'd take a LONG look at sam elhinger.
tremendous heart.
good arm.
tough as nails.

as a sooner fan...i won't miss #11.
helluva competitor.

Projections aren’t high on him right now. I’m not a scout but that’s what I’ve been reading

Clemson is a buzzsaw.

Notre Dame has one of their better teams in awhile and are part of the ACC this year.
They play in a few weeks. Itll be #1 vs # 4
Maybe its a good game

Dak Ehlinger

Sam Prescott
Ehlinger is a very poor man's Dak Prescott.
Dak won more games in the SEC than Sam does the Big 12.
He is probably the toughest D1 QB in the country but his arm isn't really Dak-like.

Sam can fit some NFL offense that will use his power run game and play action deep passing to win games.

was woefully overrated.
D'eriq King is a Texas kid that was handled easily by really bad Texas Tech defenses when at HOU.
The fact MIA thought he was some QB saviour tells the story there.

Clemson is in fact a buzzsaw though. And ND/CLEM is the best game (on paper) in the last decade of ACC football.

Yes, Miami was overrated and overmatched. They're heading in the right direction, but need to keep adding talent.

Clemson, Notre Dame and UNC will be ranked in the top 6 this week.

Because there wasn't much overlap in powerhouse Clemson and powerhouse Florida State time-frames, there really hasn't been many top 10 (fina standings...early is irrelevant) clashes.

I think FSU won the National Title in 2013 and Clemson finished 7th or 8th....so that was about it in awhile. Maybe 2012 too.

I'm curious about UNC.
They had a defensive lapse in the 2nd half yesterday...lost focus in a blowout that got interesting vs a, most-likely, overrated #17 Va Tech team.

Assumed UNC was a year away--once their recruiting classes matured. Ahead of schedule so far.

Guess we'll find out, as they play Notre Dame and then possibly Clemson in the ACC title game, barring an upset

Ok, chief. King faced TT once: 30-51 for 451 yds, 5 tds 0 ints. He also rushed 11 times in that game for 47 yds and a td.

But please, by all means, keep going on about things you know nothing about.

Sam is a career backup in the NFL at best. He’s a good college player but not great and he throws some backbreaker INTs, too many.

Well we get to see what the Big 10 looks like this week. Hopefully not as bad as the Big 12.

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...-spike-ruled-intentional-grounding-not-fumble

No. 13 Auburn edged out Arkansas 30-28 at home on Saturday, but the result was largely overshadowed by a controversial call inside the final minute.

With the Razorbacks leading 28-27, Tigers quarterback Bo Nix attempted to spike the ball and stop the clock on third-and-1 at the Arkansas 20, but instead he fumbled the snap. Nix picked the ball up and appeared to spike it backward, which would have resulted in a fumble.

The play was originally ruled intentional grounding, however, and that call was confirmed on review, leading to a loss of down and a 10-second runoff for the Tigers.

Big 12 acknowledges clock error in Oklahoma vs. Texas leading to extra regulation time in Red River Showdown
Officials in the game gave Texas 39 extra seconds during the fourth quarter of the instant classic

The Big 12 announced Monday evening that conference officials in Saturday's Red River Showdown made a clock error, allowing Texas an extra 39 seconds during the fourth quarter of a 53-45 four-overtime loss.

The mistake took place just past the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter. Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger took off running on a third-and-4 play inside their own 20-yard line. While initially ruled a first down, a lengthy review overturned the call by marking Ehlinger short. It also incorrectly put nearly 40 seconds of game time back on the clock; instead of the clock restarting at 5:57, it was set to 6:36.

"Big 12 Conference football officials liaison Greg Burks acknowledges that a timing error did occur. The play clock should have been set to 5:57 after that play," a statement from the Big 12 conference read.

Dude rofl... Tech has been the worst defense in the country every year for like 5 years now.
King played Tech twice and lost both. These were among the worst Texas Tech team's in history.
The first game he was playing slot WR.
The second he was at QB and passed for a ton of yards in a game HOU lost handily.

King was a borderline P5 guy which is why he went to HOU in the first place.
He was a great QB/athlete at Manvel which has become a yearly HS powerhouse.
He was a 3 star QB coming out that made a lot more plays with his legs than arm.
He has some arm strength but he's thin, short and not very accurate.
If you've watched MIA play he has missed a ton of throws.
He has zero real NFL chance at QB....

But do keep pretending I don't know these kids... rofl....

Dana was letting Kliff sleep on his couch when they ran the offense that elevated Case Keenum.
He will have far better QBs than King in there soon IMHO.
But either way weird flex to defend a guy that flat quit on HOU last year and pulled himself to preserve transfer eligibility thus tanking your season.

And again since reading comp seems a challenge for you let me repeat.
King is a good college QB but a major P5 program acting like he is the second coming is a very bad sign.

Sam is going to be a mid-round type prospect and likely be drafted by a team that has a QB.
If that happens he may well never see light of day and just collect 4-5 years worth of checks and then go coach.

BUT if he ends up drafted by a team that has QB on his last legs or has an opening he may surprise.
The talent, toughness and leadership are there.
UT has changed systems and staff yearly on him.
Going to a less tumultuous environment and he may surprise.
He's not ever going to be a frontline starter ino but he could end up starting 3-4 years in this league.

Miami just loves to be "back". They're just an average ACC team that cant keep talent from leaving FL. King can probably take them to a nice bowl and I think that's what they’re so happy about.

Speaking of being back who do y'all think is the best P5 program in Texas? I remember hype around Baylor.
Edit: SMU is undefeated!

The best THREE players I knew coming out of Texas all went to Miami.
Kevin Williams of Roosevelt who I camped with at OSU --he jumped over cars the LONG way... insane. College kid at that camp marvelled at his.
He was playing QB at 5'9" but was an insane athlete.
Jessie Armstead of Carter who was easily the best player I saw on the HS level. 6'3" 215 and running a legit 4.5.
Carl Jr, CJ Richardson who was our starting FS and RB. Went to Miami over Nebraska after MIA agreed to let him play both football and baseball. Was drafted in baseball and ended up playing in the NFL for his former coach, Erickson.

Miami pulled THAT much talent out of Texas when Jimmy (and his disciples) were winning titles.

Now those kids go to OSU or Bama.

Texas is a mess this year. SMU might have the best team.
Baylor has a good team but they lost their coaching staff to the pros and COVID has ravaged them.
UT is always trying to piecemeal a program together and you can put them right there with US Con most puzzling programs.
I think UT ends up firing Herman and hiring his old boss at season's end. Those big money UT boosters are dead tired of losing and the CEO type folks UT has hired realize this costs them money.

TAMU had a good win over FLA but they are along way form being figured out.

TCU is solid but can't keep the QB upright or on the field.

Tech is historically bad and may have to punt on this recent hire because a bad program has gotten worse.
