"We should adjust expectations. (It's) different than optimism. But we should adjust our expectations. Dak is a very incremental part of the potential success to this football team," Jones said Friday on the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan. "On the other hand, if we don't reach where we want to go ... and the ultimate success is to win the championship ... it will not be because of Andy Dalton. It will not be because of our play at quarterback. He's capable of stepping in and playing at that level."

After the draft, I thought we could be a contender by trading Dak and going with Dalton plus 30mil spent on other positions. He was a Pro Bowl QB once. *Could* be again with such a strong offense around him.

But not just Dalton w/o the extra cash. And it's laughable with the injuries we've had at other positions.

We have SB skill players on the offense around Dalton. But not a SB oline, and closer to a bottom of the league defense.

Jethro is the greatest. And what I love about him. Just listen to him and we know why we are where we are.

My expectations have been adjusted for a generation.

Jerry is full of it -- I adjust my expectations every year, depending upon the current situation. Jerry isn't any more a fortune teller than any of us.

Jethro and the idiot brigade can pretty well turn it in this year. All of the pressure is off with Dak out.

If we tank then have the ultimate excuse. If we contend for the division and playoffs then it’s a positive spin for all involved.

A rare no lose situation for the Cowboys. Drinks are on these bumbling idiots.

I gather the old man realized we could have Joe Montana in his prime and with this defense this bird is cooked.......

Adjusting expectations must have to do with jersey sales, if the reason we don't achieve our ultimate goal could not be the level of play at quarterback. What else could it be, if nothing else has been addressedo_O

As long as Jerry is running this thing, I have lowered expectations. He’s the biggest problem this team has, Every year is a quest to overcome his nonsense.

Our expectations were lowered when Jerrah fired Jimmy and have risen since ;)

I have no idea what Jerry means with we should adjust expectations. I have the same expectations that we should win the NFC East. In the playoffs, anything can happen. Dak's injury changes none of that.

He said this year's team has the talent at QB with either Dak or Dalton to win. So, the rest of the players do not have a built-in excuse. Dalton is not chopped liver. This team can win and I think they will win.

We are last in turnovers, the most important game stat by a wide margin.

Who's fault are the turnovers? Zeke has 1 fumble for every 30 carries this year so far. He has fumbled the ball 3 times so far. Dak has thrown 4 interceptions and fumbled the ball 3 times. Yes, one was a strip sack vs Clev. and maybe one or two might be on the OL.

Dalton fumbled a snap in a game he came in the 3rd quarter and was working with a rookie playing his second game. Schultz fumbled (after getting punched in the head by the Atlanta player.)

Most of the turnovers are on Zeke and Dak being careless with the ball and not concentrating. I understand QBs have to take a risk sometimes and some interceptions are understandable especially when trailing.

The players are responsible for not turning the ball over. RBs should not fumble. Zeke's fumbles are inexcusable. Some of Dak's turnovers were inexcusable.

The way the Cowboys have been turning the ball over is because the players are not paying attention and playing sloppy. The players are responsible for fixing it themselves.

Yeah there should be no excuses for turn overs and that should be true for Dalton as well. That's the number one thing I hate, is people making excuses. When it is a win, those things can be forgiven. If it is a loss, I feel like all of those people who messed up deserve some of the blame.

Dalton is no Dak. He's not as mobile, as lively, as explosive, nor does he have as many reps with the Cowboys play-makers.

Thus, the Dalton Hatahs are unified and will enjoy what games we lose.
Shame!

Any GM spouting gibberish such as this should be remanded to court supervision.
Or removed by the executor.
