Owner Jerry Jones and his front office have a recent track record of being a buyer in order to push an underperforming group upward; the 2018 swap of a first-round pick for Amari Cooper accomplished that.

In Jerry’s Friday visit with 105.3 The Fan, he hinted at which way he leans.

"More likely to add'' than not, he said, adding when asked about certain needs, "Specifically no. Generally, eyes wide open."

Lol IF he thinks he can right this ship by making an addition or two he's wrong.

We lost our starting QB on top of an already doomed season.

Theres no coming back this season. Its time to begin preparing for next year. I hate saying that too, but when your defense is historically bad, and your franchise QB is out what other choice do we have?

Was totally expecting a typical fish response

“Dallas won’t necessarily be buyers. But if the price is right they will be all in. This could really go either way! But the only way they buy is if they get an all pro player for a 6th or 7th rounder”

The one player I’d consider is Jets DT Quinnen Williams. We clearly have the need at the position and trading for him gives us a good player relatively cheap. For the rest of this year, two more, and then a 5th year option.

If I could do it for a 3rd round pick I surely would. Maybe I’d even give up a 2nd.

Weak DL draft too. Williams hasnt lit the world on fire, but he is very talented. He is better than any DT in this draft, Id be willing to gamble a 2nd. He has been more productive this year

I agree with you. We have 10+ picks next year and we should move some picks for a proven guy or two.

I think this defense does a complete 180 with a new DT and safety.

Thompson and Wilson are rated 79th and 80th out of 80 safeties. Hill was the worst rated DT in the league. Poe and Crawford also rate out poorly

I wouldnt mind it if its a long term play though

How we are playing right now we’re going to be picking in the top 5 which means basically 3 picks in the top 100, that means 3 starters that will be on rookie contracts for 4 years....

Trading one of those for a vet that will require a big contract is going to hurt more than help in most all scenarios given that there are heavy salary cap implications potentially with the post virus impact on salary cap next year

it’s not just about the player it’s also about the value and fitting into the salary cap situation....we’re stuck with a few monster contracts and daks for at least two to three more years so we are going to need as many 1 to 3 year players on the team on cheap contracts as possible

This makes tons of sense.........hell, I'd even do a 2nd coz first, you're not getting this kind of talent with a 2nd round pick and second, bringing this pretty much lock the DT position alone with Hill. Another thing, a trade like this is more about the future than now. In other words, only trading draft picks for a play that can over the next few years, not just now.

I would definitely trade for a DT and S. Doesn't even have to be for a world beater either. We are so bad at those positions thar practically anybody is an improvement.

I get the hesitance to trade for OL, but something needs doing there as well

That was my thinking. And most of his cost is tied to a huge signing bonus that the Jets would be eating anyway. So you would have a young, 1st round talent and a reduced cost in both salary and draft compensation, even at a 2nd round pick.

I have to assume we would be drafting a defensive tackle anyway.

If the Cowboys beat the Football team and the Eagles in the next two weeks, I would make an offer for Williams. My concern is we might have a top 40 pick with our 2nd round pick and I am not sure how good Williams is. The Cowboys will have 11 picks and could control the draft especially if we tank the rest of the season. Now if we get Williams for a third and a future 2022 conditional pick. Sign me up.

That's just is .......I'd rather this kid than any 2nd round DT. This way we focus on secondary or LBer positions with 1st and 3rd

Yep.. Get someone we can have for the future. All these D-Line with big names are either only here for 1 year or not playing up to snuff. I was so excited at first and now players like Griffen and Poe just disappoint.
