If this team gets the #1 pick you take Trevor Lawrence and let Dak walk, otherwise just get the best defender available. The offense is actually still ok with Tyron + La'el + Martin back. The defense is historically bad, but you don't pass on Lawrence if this team somehow tanks its way to #1.

No. Trade the pick. We don't need a rookie QB.

How was Dallas able to give Dak in 2016 a "Championship Roster" with a Tony Romo's massive deal still on the books? How did Dallas give Tony Romo the biggest contract in NFL history and by 2016 had, according to most, a roster soooo loaded that a terrible Rookie QB like Dak Prescott could be Rookie of the Year?

How did that occur?
Did we have an over paid RB, DL or LB to go along with Romo? Just asking because I don't remember.

To paraphrase Jimmy Johnson 'Dak is Vinny Testerverde. You can win with him but you have to have a very "defined" offense that tells him 'if X throw here', 'If Y throw there'.

Jimmy was comparing Vinny & Bernie Kosar together. Kosar didn't look like a QB but he just made plays.

using that analogy I would argue that the QBs who win today are more Bernie Kosar than Vinny T.

We simply have too many holes to pay Dak 35+ mill a year. We need to rebuild our OL and Defense. We might as well rebuild at the QB position as well.

Dak is the only player worth paying. The idiot Jones boys spent salary cal money on againg off line, gutless quitters like #90, #21, & #54. The man in jerrys mirror is the architect of this mess, not Dak and not our latest puppet hc.

lol. Vinny's career completions 56.5%.
Dak this season: 68% completions, almost 400 yards a game.

What is the point in having Dak for 3 years if we dont have the Defense and back up O-Line to compete?

We may start cutting 'some of this dead weight' from 2022. however, we'll need extend players like Pollard and Gallup so the money saved isnt that great.

We can cut Lawrence in 2022, saving $8m, but by then it's conceivable we'll need two DE's.

People need a reality check that we just have too many holes to fill......but we'll never admit that we should reset.

We could always be looking at Dak when he hits FA in 2024.

Ok. PROVE to us that Lawrence is a sure fire starter that won't have the team waste 3-4 years when...... Dallas has a top 5 PROVEN QB.

as soon as you can guarantee we will get a QB as good as Dak I might by into this idea, I would cut loose anyone who is not producing and has huge contracts and take my chances in the draft and what ever we can get out of FA, besides chucking Dak aint gonna happen, I promise JJ wont let that happen so you might as well start coming up with a new plan this one is flawed from the start.

On the flip side of the coin, if we pay the best player, then the holes remain open and he wont be able to do much with it anyway. It's not like he is Brady and we have Billicheat as a coach.
Like putting a sports car in the desert sand - the driver is just spinning his wheels.
It's a mess of a situation with no easy answer and Dak was scrambling around as it was.
