One can only hope that at some point the Cowboys and Cowboys fans will understand the basics of football that great teams are built via building the trenches and not CB or WR

actually in modern football i would argue that you need a good defensive line (not necessarily a great one) but you do need a very stout secondary.

no doubt you have to rebuild both trenches though. I understand that TS & LC could come back strong next year .... but I have my doubts that you can depend on TS. after this year's debacle i am also in a prove it mode with LC (and i used to be one of his biggest supporters).

Trade a young, productive, cheap player for an older, really good, expensive player. Doesn't work for Dallas who already have cap issues trying to sign Dak. In addition, they might as well had kept Byron.

Im fine with trading for players, but if doing so we need to target players under 28 and with multiple years left on their contracts.

I don't have any interest in trading young, cheap players for 30-somethings who cost a bunch. That's the opposite of what we need to be doing.

I don't have any interest in trading away a major passing game weapon when we're still gonna need our offense to be a monster next year. Even if the defense improves from historically bad to merely mediocre or average, we still want to be able to tear people up on offense next year. If we're less explosive and scoring less on offense next year, that's just asking the defense to get that much better to make up for it. Which is unrealistic.

If Bill Belichick has looked at a defensive player he already has under contract and he decides, "Yeah, you know what, I have no use for this guy, I'm happy to lose him," then I'm not gonna bet on out-smarting him and that player blowing up and being amazing for us. If Belichick is saying, "Let's lose this guy," and Mike Nolan is in our team's ear saying "ooh, let's trade for this guy," I'm hanging up the phone on New England and assuming it's a trap. I don't want to trade for him only to find out he's totally lost it and that's why Belichick dumped him. Or maybe they saw something in his medical stuff that shows he's one of the Covid people who has heart damage or major lung issues now and he's likely to have problems.

Honestly, it's not a lock Nolan survives the season or makes it to next season even. So I'm not interested in making any big defensive acquisitions right now. If we have a new defensive coach come next year, I don't need him saddled with one extra player chosen under the previous defensive regime.

The problem with trading for the Dallas Cowboys is that we have the least competent GM and front office in the NFL. NE doesn't have those problems. They'd want Gallup and a first round pick for last years defensive MVP.

I'd trade Gallup for nothing less than a top 40 pick. You can't convert cheap rookie deals into expensive veteran contracts and sign Dak.....rebuild DL ect
