Yahoo Sports initial Mock draft has us picking 8, behind the Jets, Giants, Jags, Falcons, Dophins, Vikings and Bengals. I think the Vikings and Falcons are going to win a few games before the season is over. The Cowboys play the Vikings and Bengals this year. With Dak out for the year, if this defense does not get much better, I do not see the Cowboys winning any more games. The offense is not capable of scoring 30 points without Dak, even in garbage time.
So you don't have to waste time finding and reading their draft they have the Cowboys taking a CB in the 1st round, Caleb Farley of Virginia Tech, who I believe opted out of playing this season. They have no DTs going in the first round. If it works out this way the Cowboys would be stupid to pass on Micah Parsons LB Penn State who goes 12th in this mock.
Here are their remaining opponents in order: Eagles, Steelers, Vikings, WFT, Ravens, Bengals, 49ers, Eagles, Giants. They barely beat the Giants with Dak. Even the Bengals are going to put 35 points up on the Cowboys defense. There are no wins left on this schedule unless there is big improvement on the Cowboys defense, and I mean BIG improvement. I don't see it happening. But, it's the Cowboys so them beating the Steelers would not surprise me either. And it would not shock me for them to win the all out tank bowl the last game of the season against the Giants. 4 wins max but most likely 3 unless the Giants decide not to tank the last game. I think they Giants already have their eyes on Penei Sewell OT Oregon and don't want to miss out on him.
As much as I think the Cowboys need defense, this is not a good draft for DTs. If they are up their in the top 2 or 3 and Sewell is on the board, I would take him. He can play inside replacing Connor Williams and them move out to LT if Smith gets hurt or retires. He is a cornerstone player. But trading down and pickng up another 2 is find by me too, as long as they stay in a position to take an impact player.
