When Dez balls out tomorrow Amari Cooper will be the worst signing in history

Could have had Dez for 800k and he’d still give you 8 touchdowns, good blocking, trick play touchdowns, and an ANOTHER 1st rd pick

He'll likely only be in certain packages for a couple weeks.
I hope he scores a TD. It's hard to let go and I'm sure he's
worked hard to get back.

I wouldn't hold mt breath. I don't think that scenario is likely.

A pass catching TE at this point? Strong and can run a couple things.

Weight, size, speed? Does anyone really know?

I would not have traded the one for Cooper.

That said, Dez was horrible when Dallas let him go. Bad hands, crappy routes, poor attitude, taking plays off, lack of focus... I wish him the best, but Dallas made the right decision.

Nah.. with Dez heading towards 30 the Cowboys were going to have to get another receiver regardless. They couldn't bank on his staying productive as he got older. The injuries were piling up.. The irony is that the achilles and the rest of the time off have given his body time to heal up and he may be as explosive as ever.. he just won't be able to do it for half as many snaps as he could 5-6 years ago. But that bunch in Baltimore will know how to get all they can out of him. Look at what they cooked up to maximize Lamar Jackson. I have faith that if Dez has anything at all left in the tank they will find it.

No matter what Dez does, he was not playing well for us when he was cut. It was time to move on.

I was not totally in favor of cutting him, especially with the poor plan we had for replacing him, but he just wasn't the same player because he couldn't dominate in the air due to injuries and Dak did not like throwing the 50/50 ball. Bryant's game has always been based on outphysicaling his opposition and injuries had reduced that ability. That meant he needed to shift to winning in other ways, but he had not really worked on his route running.

If he's regained his ability or worked on his route running and does well because of it, more power to him, but it doesn't change the reason he was cut and we eventually ended up acquiring Cooper.

Only if Romo was QB, but Romo would have had Cooper at close to 1800 yards regularly.

Amari was the best thing that ever happened to Dak, because he can’t be guarded one on one on turf in particular. Dez is much easier to defend one on one, because he isn’t out-running anybody. Cooper saved Dak’s career, not the other way around.

Having Cooper as a weapon against man defenses has improved the entire offense, as Prescott’s game has been elevated to new heights against man defenses, including a 48-point jump in IQR.

Comp % Y/A TD INT IQR
Pre Amari 52% 6.2 3 3 71
With Amari 61% 8.8 8 1 119

Despite this massive jump in production against man defense, Prescott has not had nearly as much success against a zone defense and his IQR has dropped from 100 to 84 with Cooper on the roster. Though he has an 80 percent completion percentage versus zones, it’s almost entirely short-pass based. He has no touchdowns and two interceptions on 91 attempts

Traded a 1st and 100M for a beta who doesn't show up on the road.

The Cowboy Way.

Dak Prescott doesn’t show up on the road... Can’t find any open WRs when they aren’t on turf smoking everybody one on one. You need to be able to thread tight windows then.

LOL. You are lost man. Dak was throwing into tight windows all season before his injury. You would rather be right about Dak then this team win. Its sad.

Seriously? At this point Dez is a journeyman backup player on a practice squad. There's no shame in that. That's way better than most football players do -- most never make it to the NFL -- but Dez is not even close to being an elite player, even if he was at one time. I'm not being mean, just truthful, and I do wish him all the best.
