News: ESPN: Aaron Rodgers plans to sign with Steelers, sources say

As much as I scratch my head on Jerry and the cowboys, I can scratch it harder on the Steelers.

No clue why they wanted this 3 ring circus with Rodgers and not have a back up plan at QB.

In some aspects, although the Steelers have won a couple of super bowls between 2000 and 2010, prior to that, their glory years were in the 70's.

Although Tomlin's career is 183-107-2, he's 8-11 in the playoffs.

They seem to do just enough to stay relevant in the season, and will make the playoffs, but since 2017, they are 0-5 in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm at the point that Rodgers is more of a fruitcake than anything else. Can any explain what these "personal problems" Rodgers was having as to his reasoning for stringing the steelers along?

Sounds like Pitt has same business model as Jerry, or vice-versa.

Anyway...Rodgers has been known to string contract negotiations out. Isnt that in his best interest, assuming he has multiple suitors?

Seems like agents and players know this tactic is in the players best interest.

Yet, all you hear is complaining about it being a distraction. They want it to be a distraction when it's not. It's a tactic that is being attacked as being selfish or a distraction by the parties in power.

It's not a distraction. At all.

I bet you don't want engage in this analogy: it's the same thing as a team with a lottery pick using the full 5 minutes of their draft pick clock to see if the phone rings with a good deal before selecting a player.

But you don't want to talk about that. That scenario is ok, isn't it.

That’s a horrible analogy lol.

Well at least Tomlin will have yet another convenient scapegoat when they fail to win a playoff game since 2016.

Pretty sure Aaron will get him fired just like he did Saleh..just this time he will at least get the season.

Steelers will fire Mike next offseason and he will have his choice of any job out there.

Tomlin sure gets a lot of mileage winning a SB with Bill Cowhers team.

Most Steelers fans acknowledge this.

Tomlin hasn't been able to develop a quarterback since Roethlisberger left.

Tomlin is a one trick pony defensive minded HC. Not having a losing season may be the most overrated claim to fame.......Tomlins just another version of Marvin Lewis

Ehhh…how I judge a coach is based on what he does with those around him. Steelers probably have 5 win talent and he’s good for a few wins every year. It’s alarming the talent that leaves him and sucks elsewhere or go off the rails.

Is he any different than Harbaugh?

And his quarterbacks stink. How much of that is on him? Partially some but he’s not a qb guru…

His time has probably ran out there but Steelers will Bry stuck having to find a new coach and the best one on the market will be him…

Steelers fans have said that, like McCarthy, he stuck in the last decade when it comes to Head Coaching style.

There's the "Steelers Way" but the best HCs can evolve with the times. The best example of an older coach doing that is Andy Reid.

Offensive Head Coaches partnered with franchise quarterbacks are the more recent formula for sucess.

Yeah but evolve into what? He’s not an offensive coach. And I have all the respect in the world for Reid but it certainly helps having Mahomes at qb….thats all the evolving he needs lol.

I’m not sure what the fans want from him exactly in regards to evolving…..

AR is definitely not in his prime, but if he has the arm strength and a decent OL around him, he can be a dangerous QB. I think the last two full seasons he played had more to do about the team than it did him. Similar to Brady in his last year with the Patriots.

This will be a win/win for the Steelers either way. Their young QB can watch for a season. Their other choice is Mason Rudolph.
Nah, he’s cooked.

Nah, he’s cooked.
I get that you're gaslighting...

But I'm generally curious if anyone can explain how Rodger is cooked?

Because he's year to year and no one wants to invest in that?

Because at 40+ years old QBs generally can't fight to get out of pressure from a collapsed pocket, leading to more lost downs?

Because he isn't mobile in a League that is that is embracing Hybrid QBs and letting go of the long held preference of a pocket passer?

In a league where most guys fail and are terrible at the posotion, I don't see how a pocket passer that checks a lot of important boxes in the mental aspect of the game and still has an arm...how they can be cooked?

Anyone want to explain it to me?

Beuhler...

is 13M guaranteed, in this QB market, for an immobile QB wizard with an arm really too much risk to take on? Too much wasted energy on a short term player?

I get that Pitt may not be a similar situation as what Brady went to in Tampa...but nothing about 13M for Rodgers seems like taking on too much risk or a qaste of time.

Seems like a bargain.
