emotions over reality and logic.

if it helps you enjoy the games, great. but its not in the teams best interest.
But that’s assuming one higher pick for example will be taken advantage of in the draft.

Part of why I was critiquing in another post how we didn’t fully take advantage of our other top 5 picks this era.

Who do we have in our sights with the 3rd pick we won’t get in the 4th or 5th pick?

Understand but its like the lottery, ya gotta buy the ticket first. Give yourself a chance. If you miss, that's a whole other "what went wrong" analysis.
Also, its not just the initial pick. You get to pick at the top of every round. That's a big advantage in getting something right along the way.

i hope dalton is given a short leash. if he screws up, sit him and bring in gilbert.
As long as they have a shot and he's healthy, Dalton will get the nod. If they are eliminated form contention, then we should see Gilbert for the future. I don't think Booger wants to see DiNucci on the field or in the shower.

I would bet the Joneses had some agreement with Dalton about giving him his shot at connecting with another team next season. Besides that, Booger being the optimist he is, they're going for the division and he'll play that "anything can happen in the playoffs" card. He's not interested in 2021.

One thing that I do find interesting. Where are are all of those posters that thought it was a peachy idea to sign Dalton? I still think it was a good move. May not work out but he was the best vet backup available and at a good price. I also seem to remember some attaboys for Booger when they picked up McCoy and Poe.

This is like everyone dumping on PHL after that Dream Team failure when those same talking heads had them in the SB.

One thing for Dalton to step into the same team Prescott left but that OL and D are too many moving parts. They did an abominable job of protecting him in that WAS game.

But we aren’t getting the first pick. Jets are. They aren’t winning 3 games.

The Jets don’t need a Qb. They have “The Darnold”.............notorious Cowboy killer
You really believe they’re passing on Trevor?

And if they did dangle him you think we’re giving up possibly three #1’s for him?

There are ways to get the Jets to not draft him but it starts with him not wanting to go there which sounds like it is the case.

They put Darnold in a position to fail and I think even they realize that and Darnold is still 23 years old with a ton of experience.

if i'm the jets, i draft him and call his bluff. would he pass on making millions of dollars by waiting another year to re-enter the draft? i doubt it. and it other qb's shine during the 2021 season, trevor might not be the 1st overall pick the second time around. he stands to lose a lot of money. i doubt burrow really wanted to go to bengals, but in the end, there is only one option.

Do we have any evidence of such at this time?

Jaguars are up next. Why would he prefer going there ?

There is no hard evidence but plenty of rumors of that.
Same was said of Burrows last year, and he's from that area, and he came out and said he'd be proud to play for CIN.

Manning's old man was the last to pull that stunt, and never explained why, and I never respected Eli after that, thought he was a punk. At least Elway spoke for himself and he had actually played for his father.

Lawrence holds the upper hand because he can just stay at Clemson if NYJ has the pick and they plan on taking him. I am not aware that he has declared and he is a little different dude so he could stay in for one more year.

If Dallas is sitting #2 somehow and agents get involved then all bets are off and just pointing to the Burrow situation is a lot different if Dallas is knocking on he door.

Jets are in a perfect situation to pass on a QB too and sticking with the one they just drafted.

Regardless. Dallas has to move mountains to make this happen. If they don’t attempt it they are fools. They are 2 picks from this guy.

On Tanking: This is not the NBA draft and NBA talent or NBA easy transition, we are talking about unreasonably undesirable "tanking" talk.

Having watched a lot of drafts over the years,it isn't hard to understand that in a league where vaunted experts insist with certainty that Tony Mandarich is the better choice than Troy Aikman, T.J. Watt can't play here.Dan Marino and Joe Montana aren't worthy of a top pick, but Jamarcus Russel,Akili Smith,Ryan Leaf was.

The NFL draft is a crap shoot based on good scouting and a players mental make-up and commitment to improve.

You gain little losing games to get a 3rd pick vs a 20th pick in a league where Henry Ruggs goes 10 picks ahead of Cee Dee Lamb and Jerry Rice lasted till the third round.

So......win every game you can,for the fans who paid big $ for their season tickets, and those that care about the star, and the players who have the spirit of winners.
Build experience with the young guys for next year, get the o-tackles back and settle the QB position and we are a Superbowl contender if we can rebuild some obvious holes on Defense. Never quit, quitting is for losers, and breeds long-term team emotional deterioration.
